We enjoyed our stay in Brooklyn in the apartment very much. It looked exactly as on the pictures as they are on the internet. Hazel's parents were very courteous and helpful and provided us with great tips for our stay in New York. As the weather in between got a little colder, at once the heater was turned. When a light bulb did not work - it was immediately remedied.
However, it must be said that the 3 rooms consist ultimately of one large room with one in its middle built extra bedroom. Since this room was connected with the other parts of the apartment by non-closable windows ( very stylish though), there was - for us as a family of 4 - less possibilities to retire, as we had wished for . For whom this is not an issue - here you'll find a warm place to stay in all respects in a very nice neighbrhood. We would not hesitate to come back and stay here again.
A friend and I drove to New York for a few days as part of a vacation we were taking. We didn't know what to expect as neither of us had used this website before or had been to a large city such as New York.
First off, the neighbourhood in Brooklyn where Hazel lives is awesome. People were so friendly if we needed help or had any questions. There are little stores and restaurants around the area and lots to explore. If you are arriving from a smaller city as we did you may be a little overwhelmed by the amount of activity going on all the time but we got use to it and loved it.
Hazel's house is beautiful! The room is very clean and well kept and she had an air mattress to use so my friend and I didn't have to sleep in the same bed. The bed and air mattress are super comfortable and we had no problem getting a good night sleep.
We were also incredibly thankful she had an air conditioner in the room. I don't know if the weather was overly hot and humid for New York but we are not use to the humidity particularly and it was great to come back to sleep and have the A/C there.
All-in-all we had a great first experience and Hazel and her parents are welcoming, full of advice, and great to stay with. I would definitely stay at Hazel's again!

I really enjoyed my stay. The room was comfortable, had air conditioning and the bathroom was fine. My hosts (Hazel's parents) were very welcoming and more than willing to answer my questions. Bed-Stuy itself is a beautiful, historic and atmospheric neighbourhood. The house is 10 mins walk from Utica Ave subway which offers easy access to Manhattan, Downtown Brooklyn and JFK airport.
