We stayed this house for three nights, those were wonderful experience, we felt like as sleeping in the forest, but no mosquito! The host Hayward is kind and sweet, we can recommend here for everyone.
I write this understanding that Airbnb is intended for renting a place to stay on a short term basis and don't expect anything more. This is more an effort to fill augment information that is already here and prepare other people's expectations.
Our stay was not great but that is more of a reflection of our expectations than the place itself.
The house/cabin itself is very nice, open and light. The property is probably better than described, you really are in a rainforest.
When we arrived a spiderweb had formed over the bed and a rodent dropping on the pillow. We knew that the place was going to be a little bare bones (it's not really) but a simple once-over the day we arrived would have gotten rid of these things.
Keep food in the fridge to prevent encounters with these furry friends and you won't even notice they're there.
It's a rainforest and there are no real walls to speak of (screens) so everything will get very damp, including your bed (we were there in winter). Sounds obvious, but again, good to know.
The house was nice, open, and had an awesome natural environment. Not having full electricity would not have been bad if we could of had some other form of lighting, such as candles, lanterns, etc. Had a lack of dishes and no BBQ which made it hard to prepare or eat meals. Really enjoyed the Yoga classes. Made us feel really welcome and comfortable!
Definitely stay here if you want to embrace the beauty of the Hawaiian forest, take a yoga class or indulge in a Thai or Lomilomi massage.
My favorite experience was the Yoga classes andThai massage with Hayward. Near to the progressive town of Pahoa, farmers market, warm ponds.
