My girlfriend and I had a comfortable and pleasant time here during our time in Chicago. Thanks for your hospitality, Jessica and Will! Bonus cookies for Emmett, the cute pug.
Jess was great prior to our arrival, agreeing to leave a key for us due to late arrival (Canadian border- ach!) as well as accepting a package for me so I could save on international shipping! We really appreciated the patience with our pup too who is 10 months old and eager to do things like jump up on bird cages so suffice to say we had to stay somewhat relegated to our room to give Emmett/birds a break. We didn't find Jess/Will unfriendly but also got the vibe they are in it for a little extra cash and not to meet folks on their way through, per say.
Good stuff: neighbourhood (delicious restaurants, funky antiques, etc), bed is very comfy, room has AC, eclectic interior
Not so good stuff: More attention to cleanliness needed (large amount of dust was blown around the room when AC was going), bathroom drain clogged, definitely no extras (no coffee, use of the kitchen or cocktails - as offered in the tag).
This was a good spot for us as we were only in town for a couple days and spent almost all day outside exploring the Ukrainian village!
Surprised by my experience after reading glowing reviews of the hosts Jess and Will. While they seem to be genuinely cool people, their hearts clearly aren't in the airbnb experience anymore. They seemed to go out of their way to avoid meeting me even briefly, which made the experience a little awkward since they sleep in the adjacent bedroom and share the bath. When I finally found them out in the back of the house they were polite but reticent, and proceeded to tell me a strange story about this parrot landing on their shoulder just moments before I had arrived and them putting the parrot into the empty bird cage that they "happened" to have handy there in the back yard. Then Jess whispered a bunch of stuff to Will while giving me furtive glances. Bizarro world. Also, no fresh towels were provided so I had to use a towel of ambiguous cleanliness that I found draping in the bathroom. The bed is comfortable but there's no A/C and it was at least 95 degrees in the room at night. The neighborhood is great, though, and the apartment itself is quaint and peaceful.
Jessica and William were friendly hosts. They have a great apartment in the Ukrainian Village near many shops, restaurants, and a museum. I recommend staying with these hosts! :)
Jessica, Will and Emmett are very friendly. Cute place.
Had a comfortable 4 nights staying with Jessica in the Ukranian village. The area is really interesting and some great bars and coffee shops within easy walking distance. The room is comfortable with an excellent (huge!) bed although sadly we didn't get to meet Will (working too hard!) nor sample a cocktail! Maybe next time. Jessica made us feel very welcome and the check-in/out process was very easy. Emmet (cute little pug) was adorable although if you suffer from dust allergies I'd probably be cautious about booking here.
Jessica and Will provided such a great space for us on our stopover in Chicago, their apartment is so charming and we felt at home right away. In terms of location this is a great spot, I'd recommend it to anyone.
Nice private room in a convenient location. Common rooms were fun and inviting. A great stay!
Jess & Will were totally lovely -- as is their awesome pug.
Their place is cozy & interesting. It's a quick bus &/or subway ride from Downtown Chicago.
I would definitely recommend staying at their place!
The place is great. Very relaxed. The hosts are lovely. Nice, quiet area.
