As our hosts were away, a friend of theirs met us to let us in and show us around. The place was beautiful. There was a binder with information about the apartment, how to get around, what to do, and places to eat. When they came back into town, we chatted while admiring the back patio.
Joakim is an amazing host of a beautiful space. We were on a business trip to the SF area and his house was perfect for us. The apartment is beautifully appointed, great kitchen and a very comfortable space. The outdoor patio was a bonus and I spent a wonderful afternoon working on my laptop outside. No complaints - a perfect stay.
Joakim made us feel very welcome meeting us at the apartment with a welcome card, lovely bottle of wine and folder full of great local information and recommendations.
The apartment is as beautiful as the pictures suggest with a stunning little courtyard garden which hosts three lovely little dogs although Joakim offered to keep them out of the way if we were not dog fans which was not the case.
The Hayes Valley area is a great base to explore San Francisco from with lots of great local restaurants and shops.
The only small negative was the wifi was broken for much of our stay which was a little frustrating however this was not really the fault of our host.
Would definitely stay again if in the area.
Absolute dream of an apartment, perfectly located in gorgeous Hayes Valley. Beautifully decorated, incredible secret garden outdoor space - our group absolutely loved our stay here, it's a very special place - highly highly recommend! Joakim was a pleasure to deal with - super responsive and helpful with spot on recommendations for the area!
Fantastic location and truly lovely setting with warm and comfortable furnishings and details. Joakim and Jamie were gracious hosts and their restaurant recommendations were dead on. The neighborhood was perfect for relaxed exploring (sign up for Scoot!) the architecture, food and beverage, and lively cafe life. All around spectacular accommodations.
We stay in Airbnb's for work all the time. We booked Joakim's airbnb for a few of the guys working out of the SF office for a week. They absolutely fell in love with the house! The house was beautiful and comfortably fit 3. Here's Brad's review in his own words"
We met the owner of the Airbnb, Joakim, last night checking out. He was such a pleasant person and lives in the flat upstairs, which is great to know he's accessible if needed, but totally hands off at the same time and made us feel like the house was ours.
The location was fantastic and in a great neighborhood. It's tough to find 3BR places in SF and would recommend for all our future sprints!
This was a great experience. Joakim was very gracious and helpful. The apartment was perfect for us, and the Hayes Valley area has a fantastic hip vibe. We'll definitely be back.
Joakim was a very gracious host. The place is beautiful.
We found this to be a dream rental (as did many other reviewers), a place which we very, very much hope to have the opportunity to rent again. As others mention, it's gorgeous, exquisitely decorated (but decorated in such a way that the flat is functional, not a museum). Moreover, the place is surprisingly large (indeed, each room is larger than it appears in the photos, substantially larger, so much so that we were very much startled upon first arriving). Yes, the flat is on the ground floor, but the bedrooms are set waaaaay back, so even in the foremost bedroom, no traffic sounds are noticed. (And at the back of the flat, where lies the main living area (kitchen + dining area + sunroom), well, you'd never think this place was in a city.)
We were there as a generational family, with me and my wife (both approximately 60 years old), my son (about 30), and my mother (almost 90!). Frankly, if cramped into two hotel rooms for the week we were in SF to attend the wedding festivities of my niece, I doubt we'd be on speaking terms even now, two weeks later. But when the need to escape from one another became critical, the size of the place (and the serenity provided by each individual room) were lifesaving (or perhaps I should say, family-saving).
What would we change? Well, the bath towels are much too large (too heavy), and the mattress in the bedroom closest to the kitchen certainly could be firmer. But, hey, these are trivial gripes compared to the overall well-being we experienced in being there.
Each of us agrees this place deserves 5 stars in every category. I must confess, however, we are slightly reluctant to reveal these feelings, simply because too many stellar reviews will price the flat beyond our means. (Joakim: Please do keep us in mind! ;-) )
So, in short: Fantastic rental! We envy you being there.
Joakim was a wonderful host--responsive, attentive, and hospitable. The loft was comfortable, classy, and quaint. The neighborhood was great as well. Highly recommended.
Jamie was a very pleasant guest I really enjoyed talking to him about all the things he has going on. Excellent guest Best of luck in all your endeavors
It was an absolute pleasure hosting Joakim. Unfortunately I didn't get to meet him but he was very easy to communicate, was respectful of the apartment and building rules and provided great feedback regarding the apartment. I would happily welcome him back!
Jamie was a perfect guest! Good communications, polite, conscientious, clean, supremely personable. I'm really quite disappointed I did not have the pleasure of meeting him in person. I would welcome him anytime and hopefully next time I would be able to share a glass of wine or a stroll around Town Lake!
