Response from Olivia:
Sorry your experience seems on paper not to be as good as when i asked in person. Some notes: Weehawken street is a historical street, landmark of NYC since it is the shortest street in the city. There is a sign to the left of the building entrance. Some people consider this to be unique. Easy to find when you say it is between Christopher and W10 streets. Same as any other address in NYC, taxi drivers in NY ask you for street and cross street. (for example: 42nd and 5th Ave).
The West Village as my post describes on airbnb is a residential area, never sold it as touristic.
For nice views, you would need a tall building with or without elevator depending on building or Hotel room and obviously pay over $400 per night instead of $200.
The sofa bed has never been offered as an option for the second guest because it not a real bed. Only in case of a third guest, which also has never been the case. It was your choice. And i bet after 9 days sleeping there you regreted.
Noise: raindrops seem a more pleasant noise to me that the common honking, sirens...in other touristic areas of NY. I may be wrong.
The nearest subway yes, it is Christopher, takes 5 min taking the shortest way, if you walk East on w10 and make a right on w4 not the same if you take Christopher st. Just timed it today. With heavy luggage i believe it is a pain in the neck to take the subway anywhere in NY since there are no elevators. Yes, I agree with bad weather better to order a taxi. There are never enough.
Restaurants: there are plenty of them on w10 going East. On Hudson, just two blocks away you can also find the not that expensive ones, if that is what you were looking for. The Cow Girl, Aria...they are all in within 15 walk.
The cancellation was my offer and it is always an option if you may want to read airbnb guest manual. It all seemed ok with you when I was there in person. During the check out there were no complains and during your stay all jokes about the "cooking with no gas" via email or when in person. There is nothing i can do when you are gone. I can only fix upon your arrival. The lamp, yes it cannot be fixed for now. However, there are 10 ceiling halogen all around the living room and kitchen that provide light.
All i got from this: Ii always learn from guests.
