Our stay in Tahiti was AMAZING! Such a beautiful island with very warm, friendly and hospitable people.
Carlos was such a fantastic host; his hospitality knew no limits. He loves his island and showed us as much of it as possible. It was such a treat to meet such a wonderful person who took so much pride in welcoming us to his island and making our stay so enjoyable. Carlos and his wife treated us like family.
The bungalows were very comfortable and in such a spectacular location- right on a beautiful black sand beach where the sunrise and sunset were breath taking. There is a small kitchen in the bungalow- Carlos stocked the fridge with fresh pineapple (which he often brought to us) and some essentials. He took us to a nearby supermarket where we were able to buy whatever we needed.
The overall experience was nothing but wonderful! If you're looking for a beautiful quiet get away with some adventure - this is your place! You can choose between 4x4 adventures in the mountains to rivers an waterfalls or just enjoy the serenity and beauty of the bungalows on the beach.
We stayed at Fare Arearea for the month of January, 2015. If airbnb had a "Host of the Year" award, Carlos would be the winner! The bungalows are cute, quaint and quiet; we felt extremely safe there. The locals are as welcoming as we've ever encountered in our world travels. If you are looking for a getaway off the beaten track that offers the true flavor of Tahiti, look no further.
A big thank you to Carlos and his wife for making us feel like family and for giving us a memorable vacation!

Nous avons fait qu'une nuit au lieu des 3 prévues chez Carlos. Le fare est fonctionnel et est au bord de l'eau. Le bruit des vagues est agréable pour s'endormir.
Carlos was an excellent host! He picked us up at the airport with flowers and provided us a lot of information and offered help with car rental, ferry tickets etc.
The appartment is within walking distance to Papeete center and has a kitchen and a powerful air-con. The fridge was loaded with a breakfast for the first morning and regularly refilled with fresh fruit salad!
We arrived at Fare Arearea in the early evening. Out Local HUT was great. We had kitchen, bathroom bedroom dining area. patio. with south pacific ocean literally 10 steps away. IT was Fabulous here. Carlos was the most caring and considerate and accommodating host.
My husband and I had a wonderful time here and would certainly recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in Tahiti. This is soooooo much better than the big hotels. We had our own little piece of paradise. The water was AMAZING. if you are thinking about going to Tahiti. The stay here if you like the quiet paradise and beach.
Thank you for such a wonderful visit.
My wife and I just spent 5 nights at Carlos's wonderful bungalows. He and his wife picked us up at the airport . This was very helpful since we were on slate flight and it was 2230 before we cleared customs. As he drove us to the bungalows Carlos gave us a running commentary. It was like having a private tour guide.
His property is located about 47 km from Papeete on a secluded beach. He has 3 one bedroom bungalows. Two have an additional bunk bed, and the others couch instead. All have a well equipped kitchen. The bungalows are clean and well maintained. This shows a commitment on his part since labor is expensive and the tropics are hard on things. We spent very little time inside. Each house has a deck with a great view. He also has a nice pavilion where you can BBQ and enjoy the fantastic view. There is a long black sand beach right in front. We rarely saw anyone on it. You can swim or use one his kayaks. We were here during the rainy season and the weather didn't always cooperate, but we didn't care. It was so nice just sitting on the deck and listening to the waves.
What sets our stay here apart from anywhere else we have stayed. Carlos went out of his way to make sure our stay was perfect. Our first morning we were met at the pavilion and had fresh croissants and coffee. He took us into Taravao after breakfast to shop for food. There is large supermarket where you get anything you need. Throughout our stay Carlos came by and checked in on us. One afternoon he invited us to. BBQ he was having with friends. Another day he drove us into the interior of the island in his 4 Land Rover. I was not expecting service like this. It made our stay here wonderful.
It is very peaceful and quiet. If you want to go into Papeete, it is a 45-50 minute drive. We are already making plans to return in the spring.
Our 3-night stay at Fare Arearea was excellent. Carlos contacted us ahead of time to let us know that an early morning check-in would be okay (although we did not do it). We were greeted by his friendly staff and two adorable and very sweet resident cats. The fridge was thoughtfully stocked with cut pineapple, fresh baguette, some cookies, butter, and jam. We used the kitchen quite a bit and the supplies came in handy (oil, basic spices, instant coffee). The electric stove works great.
The bed was very comfortable and the mosquito net didn't have any holes. The property was very quiet and dark at night, providing for a wonderful night's sleep!
The location is good because it puts you close to Tahiti Iti while keeping the west side of Tahiti Nui and Papeete accessible. It is about a 50-60 minute drive to Papeete and about a 10 minute drive to the closest supermarket.
We didn't have the pleasure of meeting Carlos during our stay like some of the other reviewers, but we couldn't have been more pleased with his accommodations. Great value for money!
We want to thank Carlos for sharing his home with us. He was very helpful with not only rental car recommendations, but he even helped us with purchasing our ferry tickets to Moorea. The beds were comfortable and clean. Mosquito nets were provided, but we didn't need to use them. The kayaks on the property was a nice touch. My husband enjoys surfing as a hobby and we were able to make a short drive to the famous Tehupoo. Food wasn't a problem, there were many cheap street food stands just minutes away. Carlos is a wonderful host. We rented a car, but you actually don't need to if you are staying with Carlos. Just communicate with him ahead of time on what you are looking for (ex. grocery stores, tours, surfing spots, etc.) in your trip and he will help you out in any way that he can.
Carlos was a wonderful host! His care and concern started from our first contact, through a flight delay and for the remainder of our trip. He hosted s communal dinner, took us to see some things on the island we would not have found on our own and generally made us feel at home in our little piece of paradise. When a flight delay meant we would arrive at 11:00 pm, Carlos stocked the fridge for us with. Breakfast and a nice bottle of red wine! What a great surprise
To be met with.
The bungalow is basic but very comfortable. There was mosquito nets For the bed and all the windows were protected from the bugs. Everything was very clean obviously well cared for.
Thank you Carlos, for a wonderful 3 nights in paradise!
Ottima location, grazie Gilles
