I have recently moved from Vancouver to Toronto. I really like basketball and the outdoors.

We had a great time staying with Chris. He was super easy going and we came and went as we pleased. The bed is really comfortable and location is good of you have a car. About 10 mins drive into downtown. Would certainly recommend Chris's place to other travellers.
Chris was very accommodating. His place was easy to find and there was great parking.
My stay with Chris was very pleasant from start to finish! I had some trouble locating the house because I ended up on the wrong street and had to wake him at 1 AM to come and rescue me and he was SSSSSSOOOO friendly and pleasant about it and didn't seem to mind at all. He even helped me carry my bags back to the house and made sure I was all settled in before heading back to bed which was GREATLY appreciated. The room is not A/C so I had to leave the fan on and window open as it did get quite warm in there but as long as the air was circulating it was fine.
There is quite a bit of traffic right outside the house so it's quite noisy during the day if you have the window open but there is a little living room area where it'd be easy to sit and relax if you didn't want to stay in the bedroom.
The shower was a little difficult to use as it would change temperatures very quickly on its own which really was my only complaint about my stay.
Chris had a little basket of travel books located in the bedroom for guests to use which I thought was a fantastic idea.
Some of the other reviews had complained of it being a little messy but I really didn't seem to find this at all other than a few dishes piled up in the sink.
All and all I had a fantastic time staying with Chris and would recommend him to anyone looking for a cheap and affordable place to stay. He was very accommodating making recommendations of where to go and how to get there.
The floors are hardwood and quite squeaky I might suggest ear plugs as the bedroom is right across from the entrance and I could hear him coming and going which didn't bother me in the least but light sleepers might be disturbed if they want to sleep in.
Beware that if you're going to be taking the 22 (the route closest to his house) in either direction it is notoriously late so make sure you have lots of travel time. I waited anywhere from 10-40 minutes for one bus and they should have came every 20 minutes but it was Canada Day so I expected some delay. The house is close enough (about 10 min walk) to walk up to the main intersection though to take only one bus downtown.
Really nice place and central to get around. Close to Commercial Drive and good bus connections. Chris and his roommate were very friendly and easy going. The room was really nice and the noisy street outside was barely a problem with the windows shut.
Staying at Chris` apartment was great! My sister and I had a great time, it was absolutely perfect for a busy week of exploring in Vancouver! Definitely highly recommended
The flat is well-located for some genuine neighbourhoods - Commercial Drive & Main Street. The bedroom is close to the road but we didn't really find a problem with traffic noise. As one of the better value places we saw in Vancouver, the room isn't huge but it's perfectly fine and the bed was very comfy. Whilst housekeeping wasn't the highest priority, this may be due to Chris being absent for much of the time travelling. Certainly we did enjoy our stay there and overall we would recommend it.
Great place in a convenient location, and Chris was a very friendly host. The experience was perfect for our needs.
Great host and very knowledgeable and helpful. Close to mass transit and food. Road is loud during the day, but quiet enough at night. Room is well maintained and comfortable. Good stay overall.
Chris is a very nice and friendly host ! We enjoyed the trip in Vancouver by his help. My english isn't very well, I can't tell too much, but I love the place and Vancouver really ! :)
(I hope that you know what I say)
Although several people had mentioned it in the comments, the room is directly above a very busy street and it is really noisy, which did bother us... If you're looking for a quiet place and a good night's sleep, this is not the spot for you. The bed is however incredibly comfortable and we're planning to buy the same mattress back home! I must also say that the apartment was not spotless clean either, especially the bathroom. It is however inexpensive for Vancouver, which is a very good point for it.
I felt at home in an instant and made great friends! Jake is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet.
The place is neat and comfortable, great location and awesome hosts. Jake is super knowledgeable about Vancouver and the surrounding area- if you like spending time outdoors and are curious about exploring hikes or going for bike rides, in and around the city, you won't find better hosts.
Thanks for your hospitality Jake!
I've known Jake since he was a kid. He and his family are good friends with my sister's family. He's a great guy and I have no doubt he will be a wonderful host. It gives me much pleasure to recommend him.
As an experienced Air BnB host and a seasoned guest with these guys, I have no doubts that they will provide a comfortable and memorable stay for you in Vancouver. The apartment is conveniently located and filled with chill vibes I've come to expect from the West coast. Don't forget to ask them about Bowen Island!
I have known Jake since we were both small children. He is an organized, warm and welcoming person. You will extremely feel safe and comfortable staying with him. I have visited the apartment many times and had the good fortune of being a guest myself on occasion. It is accessible (a short walk to major bus routes), clean, and spacious, and an absolute steal for the price.
