A journalist from Spain living in New York for over a decade
This place is perfect!
The apartment is exactly as gorgeous as advertised.
The bedroom is on the top floor, where I enjoyed great privacy and remarkable quiet- and slept with the windows open to the red roofs of Madrid.
The sun kissed my cheek every morning at 8am, waking me under a down comforter to the crisp Spring mornings in the old city.
On the main floor, be prepared for windows opening to the center courtyard, and close proximity to the neighbors. Everyone minds their own business (it gets quiet around 10PM), and all windows can be secured or blocked for privacy. It was cool, because I really felt integrated into the hood, but out of respect for my new neighbors, this was not a good place for a party.
The joint is so cool, though, you'll want to share it with someone for early appetizers and some wine before heading out to Plaza Mayor or Cava Baja for the evening's festivities...
Not far from your front door is a nearby square called Tirso de Molina, where everyone comes to buy their fresh flowers. Great old Cafe's and bars abound.... As well as some really interesting looking Theatre and Comedy...
Mercedes, the owner, is kind of spectacular too; she was as communicative and as helpful as she could be.
I highly recommend this spacious, and sweetly appointed apartment.
Mercedes was an excellent guest. Easy to communicate with and left the place looking the same as when she arrived. Mercedes is welcome back anytime.
