From Uganda. Doing farming for a living. Staying in Kampala and Mukono.
Steven, his family and staff were very welcoming and accommodating and always around to help. For example, I overslept a couple of times past breakfast time and the ladies always made me a hearty breakfast. :)
The room itself was clean, spacious with its own bathroom and a very spacious mosquito net around the canopy, which helped keep the bed cool and mosquitoes and bugs out.
The compound is very green and the house is also quite spacious so you can get lots of room to hang out. There is a security guard and dogs on the grounds so the house and rooms are quite secure.
Another added bonus is how close the house is from the main road and town. Boda bodas and matatus are within a 3 minute walk and the city centre within 15 minutes by the same means. There are lots of restaurants and shops and ATMs similarly close by. Cafe Kawa has the best grilled pork chops. :)
A real blessing for my 2 week stay in Kampala! Would definitely recommend this to everyone I know.
Excellent breakfast, very nice staff, cosy and beautiful home. I felt very welcome.
Great value for money with very welcoming owners and staff, great location, and perfectly adequate facilities. Highly recommended for multi week business travelers on a budget, breakfast is good quality, free laundry is a great perk, its close to multiple decent gyms, multiple decent restaurants, and nightlight while still be quiet enough to ensure a good nights sleep. This is my new "home away from home" whenever I'm going to be in Kampala.
Steven sent a colleague to pick me up from the airport, the staff was very friendly even with my decently late arrival and provided me all of the resources I needed to feel comfortable immediately. I continuously went to them with questions, requests for water bottles and all sorts of things and they were very warm and helpful.
It was a great experience staying at Bandas Inn, Kampala. Everyone was friendly, attentive to my needs and went out of their way to make my stay comfortable.
It was a pleasure hosting Ali. We hope to see you again when back in Kampala.
I enjoyed the visit. Staff was great and helpful. Breakfast was delicious. Thumbs up!
Thank you David! We wish you pleasant journey through the rest of East and Southern Africa.
This is a very practical place if you want a quiet place with facilities nearby and close to the center of town.
Stephen and the staff are very helpful and provided good directions to places nearby. I arrived a day earlier but they were full. Steve provided names and phone numbers of alternate locations nearby. Later Steve also looked up and provided the web address of an NGO I was interested in. For breakfast you can order waffles, pan cakes, eggs made the way you want plus have fruit, cereals, toast and tea/coffee - so it can be as substantial or light as you want. Although I did not have any, lunch/dinner at €6 is reasonably priced. One night ordered a pot of tea and a sandwich, which was well-made, for a total of €5 was reasonably priced. I had a room with a private bath which was clean and functional. In the part of the building that I was in, the shared bathroom was clean and used by only one other room. Mosquito netting is provided but you need to know how to use it properly.
There are 3 wonderful outdoor covered terraces/spaces where you can sit/read/work/relax. There is good Wi-Fi throughout the property. The owners live within the grounds, which makes it helpful to get advice or in an emergency. By taxi it took about 10 - 15 minutes to get to/from town centre close to rush hour and cost €5 - €6. There is local transport which is much cheaper but involves changing vehicles each way and start/finish at very specific locations. It is only advisable if you know exactly what you’re doing in a new country.
Within 300m of the property, there are 4 NGOs (Oxfam, VSO, etc.), a wine store (which seem well stocked but did not check it out), a coffee house with good food and coffee, and a grocery store with good selection of cheeses, fruit, dairy, meat canned goods, etc. Within additional kilometer there are a number of local shops, restaurants, bars, pharmacies, etc
If you want a quiet yet practical location to work in, close to town and have access to restaurants, coffee shop, wine shop, grocery store and local bars and restaurants this is a good location.
Thank you Faruk for appreciating our services. We have recently upgraded our internet connections, running two connections concurrently. This has improved speed and reliability as well. Good luck with your business in Uganda.

A+ on providing an overall very easy, relaxing, and comfortable experience. Steven is a very welcoming and accommodating host. He and his staff are very prompt with responses and any requests you make. He made it easy for me to arrange transportation to and from his place and had great recommendations for places to eat and things to do. My accommodations was comfortable and clean. I also really enjoyed waking up to the lovely breakfast! I would be coming back the next time I'm in Kampala.
Very pleased with this option for staying in Kampala. The set up is very good being a big property with garden in Muyenga, with close shops and restuarants. Banda Inns offers big rooms, strong wifi, cleanliness, good staff, great breakfast. I particularly liked all the comfortable places to read, work with sofas, power, views of the garden. Highly recommended.
Steven, his family and his staff members like to make things happen. They are very flexible, welcoming, have a wonderful garden and the Spanish omelette is just superb. Even though the place is close to a big road and not far from Kampala's busy centre Banda Inns is a rather quiet place. Can truely recommend to stay here.
Thank you Oliver for appreciating our quiet and simple setting. It was a pleasure to host you and we hope to see you again soon.
