My name is Vicky, manager in charge.
Don't miss the Lavinia, we are waiting for you to provide a great memories in Seoul.
Looking forward to meeting you at Lavinia!
A little difficult to find, but with some help we found the hotel. IT is very compact, but enough for somewhere to sleep while exploring the city of Seoul. Very good location, high speed internet, hot showers and extremely clean. The breakfast is very simple but for the price I did not expect much more. The girls behind reception are all very helpful providing clean towels on demands and they will book taxis / sort out any trips you want to go on.
The room is very cozy and comfortable. The room seen in the photos provided are also very accurate. However, it will be good to have a kettle in every room. The location is also very convenient as it is place at the heart of Seoul as it is near to many places of interests. Vicky was a very friendly and helpful host. She bought a new iron board and iron for us to get our clothes iron neatly. Overall, the stay at Lavinia was very fruitful.
Lavinia provided us with comfortable accommodation with sufficient privacy. The bedding (without sheets though with only bed linings), aircon, tv, fridge, washing machines are pretty decent. But what really set the place apart from the rest was Vicky's services.
She was professional and able empathise with the needs of travellers, recommending places to go and the most convenient ways around. She is also based in the venue and that means you will have little problem seeking help should you require it! Pleasant place to be in :)
The room is clean and neat with free wifi. Good location that near the station, palace and Insadong. The price is unbeatable and worth to stay. :)
Lavinia is in a very good location, especially for those travelers who wish to visit Seoul's historic attractions. It is close to both, the Anguk and the Jongro-3-ga subway stations. Insadong and Jong-ro are just a short walk away, where many restaurants and shops can be found.
The room was very nice. Clean and modern. The photos posted here in Airbnb are accurate. It was spacious for the two of us. It even had a private bathroom (not all guest houses have such a nice feature). The free breakfast (cereal, milk, juice, bananas) was good and just appropriate to start the day.
Vicky is a very nice and kind host. She really tries to help in any way she can. She is cheerful and attentive. Definitely someone who makes everyone comfortable.
Overall, our experience at Lavinia was extremely positive. We really liked it and will definitely return in the future. We strongly recommend it.
I stayed at Lavinia with my husband for 7 nights and had a pleasant experience. Lavinia is kept very clean, free soap/shampoo, free wifi, and two very small 'towels'. (If you're expecting typical bath towels, you may want to bring your own.) Vicky was extremely responsive and even stayed up an extra hour to let us into our room (due to our flight being delayed, as we arrived 1+ hr after check-in time). The bathroom was very clean and has a shower head that sprays water into the entire bathroom area where you would normally stand to brush your teeth/use toilet. It took a bit getting used to, but overall, was very clean (the entire bathroom is waterproof and has a single drain). The bed was a bit firm, but was comfortable. The most attractive thing about Lavinia is it's location. It is well situated near the Jongno railyway station and has access to plenty of restaurant/bar options. Yet, it was tucked in a quiet street so getting rest was easy. One thing that could be improved was the window in the room didn't have any curtains, so the street-lighting shined through the windows all night long. Though, for the price we paid (~$55/night) we weren't complaining. Free wifi, free (toast/cereal/banana) breakfast and excellent service by Vicky and her mother with every question we had. If you're looking for a bargain place to stay that's clean, quiet and comfortable, this is it. It doesn't have typical hotel amenities, but all the essentials are there. Definitely recommend this place and give it a shot if you're in Seoul for less than a week.
The room was very pretty and comfortable. The location of the bnb was very accessible to subway and airport bus busstop. It was a bit inconvenient that no drinking water was provided by the bnb although a kettle was provided in the common room. in contrast to other places we stayed in korea. Overall, we had a great stay as the staff was very helpful.
I can only confirm what others have already written, it's a hassle free place, well located, the rooms are small but clean and comfy, and the owner, Vicky, is very helpful. To make it short, I will be back and yes, I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to friends.
What a great stay here~~!!! Great Staff, Great Location, Fast Wifi~~~ Thank you so much Vicky, I will come back again next time~~~~~*^^*
Lavina was awesome. It was made more awesome by the fact I totally lucked out during my stay.
The guesthouse is centrally located in a great area, near a few of my favorite spots in Seoul – Insadong and the Cheonggyecheon River. It's also very close to Gyeongbokgung Palace and Jongmyo Shrine and a ton of other great places to visit in the area. The owners passed along very easy directions to follow, and although the they mention Anguk station 5 (or 6) on line 4, you could also take line 5 and get off at Jongno-3, albeit a little longer walk. There are a ton of soju-tents and street food carts between the guesthouse and line 5, as well as some small hidden jems of BBQ and seafood restaurants throughout the area. It's also only a short walk to Jong-ro which is insane with food and drink options.
The guesthouse is in a fairly new multi-story building shared with another large guesthouse. If I recall correctly Lavinia occupies 5 floors (4-9?) while the other guesthouse (Banana Backpackers) held the first several floors. I checked in fairly late (11pm) and was directed to the top floor where I was promptly greeted and shown to my room.
Although I stayed alone, I could imagine the room would be slightly cramped with two unacquainted travelers. (It featured a single bunk bed which was a nice deviation from the typical two bunk, four people setup.) However it's very dialed-in with amenities, including heated floors, forced air, a refrigerator, desk, table, mirror and very clean and modern. There's an interesting little lockable closet / patio area with large windows (although I couldn't quite figure out it's purpose) with a coat hanger. I assume you could secure your belongings out there – however if you were sharing the room with a stranger I don't know exactly how that would work. The windows open which came in rather handy ventilating the room post shower.
The bed was comfortable and bedding clean, although the comforter (maybe a spring / summer weight) might be a little minimal for those needing extra warmth while sleeping. (I'm definitely not one of those people, so I loved it.) But the room does have heat so again most likely a non-issue.
The in-room bathroom is very clean and nice although a little cramped. It's laid out vertically (maybe 3-4 feet wide and 8 feet deep), so your sort of dancing around the sink while showering. For the price and location it's a 9/10; having your own private bathroom while backpacking is quite the treat. Great shower, temperature and water pressure.
Wireless worked well, although there were several routers which played havok from time to time with the connection. But great speed and accessibility.
The employees spoke English very well and were very sweet and friendly. Overall a great guesthouse and I would certainly stay again.
