28 year old kiwi who used to work for Airbnb in London. Passion for travelling and people who love to travel!
I had a great couple of days in London on Matts Boat. It's clean and nice. The area at Victoria Park is great for walks and Broadway market is great for food and Pubs. I'd love do do that again in Summer!
Matt provided his assistance with a very detailed and kind email before our departure. The boat was a very adventurous experience (you do not to espect the comfort of an hotel, but it is great as well for sensations seekers) and it is placed in a lovely spot near Victoria park (we suggest you the Pavillion for breakfast) and the Broadway market, not so far from Shoreditch High Street and nice Dalston. The wifi does not work when we were inside, but it was the game for real sailors. matt gave us an account to use the wifi in the whole City abroad. Unluckily the last day the underground Central trains didn't work and this caused our checking-out delay, but the owner was kind as well with us saying goodbye and helping us with our luggages. Goodbye London!
Nice small houseboat. Would book again anytime :)
I had a lot of fun sleeping in Matt's boat. It was a very original accommodation in London. It was very well located on a canal near Victoria Park. The boat is well-equipped, even though you should not expect the comfort of a three-star hotel. Matt was very friendly and helpful. He gave me the opportunity to make a small trip along the canal and we passed locks which was a lot of fun. It was an overall great experience and I highly recommend Matt's boat.
Matt answers always quickly by email and is very kind, but the boat was not moored where it was supposed to be in Shoreditch. I have been advised just the day before. Not so bad, but... I had many problems to unlock the door the first time and it was almost impossible to warm the boat with that small charcoal-burner. It was February and we were freezing under the bedcovers. The shower is very, very, very small. So, if you are a tolerant person and a backpacker kind of traveller like me is fine, but the boat should cost less.
We were quite disappointed Matt's houseboat . ( 212 euros/174£ for two nights , two persons)
Cleaning fee 19€ : Why? The houseboat is dirty , the houses cushions are clean but the sheets are dirty.
Security : Im a houseboat owner so i can explain me about that . bilge pumps are old , wires are stripped, close to the water and diesel at the bottom of the hold. The verter dipped in a puddle caused by a leaking deck to port !!!!
comfort : We know that we are in a boat, this is the game, but no functional fireplace in winter is it a joke ? The pipe had a big hole as the thumb due to rust, I had to repair with aluminum foil to use it without the risk of smoke boat. A cause of the leak of the deck , the bed is wet, you can guess what beautiful nights we spent .
Matt did not present to give us the keys or to retrieve and understandably . A boat is primarily for amateurs owners , we must maintain . before thinking about the rent.
Come on Matt for free on my boat in Paris and You Will learn what is it a security and maintain boat .
Positive note : This little boat is in enssemble while charming even the corner of the channel where it was moored was quiet and close to Spitalfields market .
My final word is just too expensive for what it is , the costs of households and extra person per night is really too much.
Great location and people. We really enjoyed our stay with the London based Kiwi's. I would stay there again - recommended.
Really enjoyed the boat. It's in a great location - and is a really cool address or lack of to return to after a night out. Bathroom isn't really ideal for 2 people as its about 30 cm from the bed. But it is a boat afterall.
Place was clean and the whole thing was very easy and uncomplicated. I was there in Feb. It can get pretty cold on the water especially at night...So be warm and warned...
In warmer times I could not imagine a cooler spot for a solo mission in the city.
Didn't meet Matt, but was greeted by Ewin his flatmate. Place was big and the room is ass pictured. The neighborhood is in a nice location and very close to the tube. I would stay there again.
As a Airbnb employee, Matt was a perfect guest, very congenial and helpful and gave me good advice about the site and hosting. I thank him also for leaving the kitchen spotless. It was a real pleasure to have him and his friend here and I hope he will come back. Véronique
J'ai été ravi de faire connissance de Matt et Johnny, des vrai globetrotter, consiliant, ouvert, agréable.
Matt and Alexandra came for skiing to Bled, but they wouldn't miss the rowing on the lake. The weather was perfect. I look forward to their visit this summer. Lora, December 2012
Matt and Alex have been wonderful guests: friendly and uncomplicated! Would always welcome them back!
It was a pleasure having Matt staying at my flat. He is friendly and polite; I felt confortable sharing my house with him and the room was left clean and tidy. He seems to be an experience traveller and to be very well organize. Thanks (email hidden)ep up the good work!!
Matt has been a great guest, he even helpes us somehow ;) !
It was clear he's been travelling a lot, behaved nicely and took advantage of our offer the best way possible.
Willing to see him back here soon!
Both Matt and his friend were lovely guests. Friendly, polite, respectful and considerate of other lodgers. I would welcome them back anytime and thoroughly recommend them to other Airbnb hosts
Matt was a great guest. He communicated his requirements well in advance and adhered to the arrangements that had been made. He was travelling with two Kiwi friends and they were a pleasure to have in the house: really good fun; they even introduced us to New Zesland music! It was like a real life Flight of the Conchords. In the end they joined in with our friends, came on a night out and reciprocated our generosity as hosts by buying quite a few beers! The following day they left the apartment well in advance of checkout and the room was clean and tidy; Matt was also very gracious in his thanks making us feel like we had had friends to stay rather than paying guests. I would have no hesitation in having these guys back or recommending them to other hosts. In short having Matt and his mates to stay was a lot of fun.
Matt & Johnny were fun guests and enjoyable to meet. Good communicators even with the difficult internet service on Hwy 1. We were very happy to meet them and learn a little about their home and travels.
We wish them a fun and adventurous journey! Thanks for staying with us.
Matt and Johnny were great guests (clean, quiet, respectful). They were very friendly and I enjoyed having them stay at my place. I would definitely recommend them to other Airbnb hosts!
