I surf, play dominoes and work with farms.
We stayed in this apartment for the entire month of March. It was an overall terrific experience. The location is ideal. We only rented a car for a few days to drive up the east coast of Oahau and check out the north shore (highly recommended!). The rest of the time we rode busses around Honolulu and out to some natural attractions across the southern shore of the island. There are many busses that stop within a block or two of apartment and that come quite frequently. It's a very easy walk to downtown, to Waikiki, and to Ala Moana shopping center, where we did most of our grocery shopping. There is a lovely park and a beach just a few blocks away.
Everything was clean and pretty when we arrived. The mattress is super comfy. The kitchen is large and lovely, with terrific lighting and pretty much everything you could need for cooking.
The building is also super nice. There is a brilliant shared garden just beyond the private patio. There is a sauna and a swimming pool on the same floor as the apartment (though we did all our swimming at the ocean). We made good use of the gym, which is just a few flights below the apartment, and which is well-equipped with weights and exercise machines. It was always available (never crowded, no waiting for machines) throughout the month of March.
I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Matt, as he was out of town and only got back the last night of our stay (after I'd fallen asleep). My boyfriend met him though, and said he was just as cool as he seemed during my online interactions with him. Matt was always quick to respond to messages, and managed things well from afar. Whenever we had a problem, he would work it out quickly. I did meet Alex. He is a really cool guy and a pleasure to share space with.
Storm can be moody, but she is a beautiful cat and quite nice and affectionate when she wants to be. My bf got along with her better than I did. If you consider yourself a genuine cat person, you are likely to adore her. If you are not a cat person she is unlikely to convert you, but you will not regret living with her. Overall we both loved our stay here and would strongly recommend the apartment.
Matt took out all the stress..met us downstairs; helped us park the car (in a space that proved to be a real challenge because of it's narrowness); and provided a space that met all our needs. Unfortunately, he had to go out of town, but his friend Alex was equally friendly and helpful. Didn't see him much, but the place felt like our own. Great location; lovely lanai..even a barely used pool and hot tub steps away. Highly recommend.
Matt's apartment was great. If you're looking for a place to stay in Honolulu that's a off the touristy path, this is your spot. This apartment is located in the up and coming, artsy district of Honolulu. 10-15min walk will get you to cute cafes, local (non-touristy) beaches, parks, and downtown Honolulu. Getting to Waikiki is a simple 15min bus ride. Matt is very friendly and attentive to his guest's needs.
Matt was awesome! His place was great and very close to the beach and just far enough from the hustle of downtown Waikiki! Would highly recommend Matt and his place!
Matt was easy going and welcoming and trusted us to stay in his place when he was away. His cat, Storm, was great company too. It was located within easy walking distance of shopping and the Ala Moana beach. If you need to stay in downtown Honolulu, Matt's comfortable place is a good option. He has great suggestions of places to go.
Matt's clean quiet apt was a joy to return to each night. Alex, his roommate, very pleasant and helpful. The large private room with comfortable bed led to a good sleep every night, and their affectionate kitty Storm made it feel like home. Great room. Great hosts.
We had a great time staying with Matt and his cat Storm. The room is spacious and comfortable. Matt is easy-going and helpful without being in your space. The apartment is in a quiet side-street close to restaurants and buses.
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
This was our first time trying something like this and was very hesitant. It worked out VERY WELL! We were very happy with staying with Matt. His condo, to us, was the primo condo of the whole complex. Only about 4 (maybe 6) have lanais and his condo is the closest to get to the sauna, pool, BBQ area. We would choose to stay with Matt again.
Matt and Lisa were super welcoming! The room was clean and tidy and I loved the bed - the most comfortable one of my trip. The room has a small outdoor area with a table, building has a pool...couldn't ask for more. Matt has a cute cat named Storm which I considered catnapping, but decided against it in the end. She was way too feisty. :)
