We had a great time at Scott`s flat. It felt like a little oasis in the big city. We didn't meet Scott in person, but he left us useful information and restaurant tips. His place is comfortable and well equipped, located in a nice neighbourhood with lots of good restaurants and just around the corner from the Metro to Manhatten. We particularly enjoyed the nearby park. I was a little apprehensive of the futon beforehand, but it turned out to be very comfortable!
I stayed 3 nights with my daughter as we hung out in NYC and looked at colleges. Overall, the experience was great. Scott's e-mail after booking gave us a helpful overview of the area. They were good enough to let us store our bags at the place before it was ready (checked in at 8:00 p.m.) and on our way out (our plane didn't leave until 7:00 p.m.). My daughter had a class she was finishing online and the wi-fi was solid. The pictures showed what to expect, so you shouldn't have any surprises. The window air conditioner in the bedroom was the only AC in the house, but except for our first day there, we didn't use it. That night, though, we closed the door and fired it up to avoid melting on a day when the city air felt like soup.
The location was perfect, as long as you didn't mind a bit of a subway ride into Manhattan (we didn't). Great market on Saturday, and we never felt unsafe, even coming back after midnight from a Broadway show. The neighborhood had plenty to offer by itself, though you'll probably find it a little "quieter" than other areas of NYC, if you can picture such a concept.
Scott and his friends stayed at our house in late April for a weekend. They were wonderful guests, friendly and communicative. We'd recommend them highly to anyone. They were very respectful of our home, and left everything very neat and tidy. We hope they come back to visit again.
Scott was mellow and easy to work with!
Archcena and Scott were two of our all time favorite guests! What sweet people - friendly, kind, and so appreciative of every day things. They were quiet and left their casita neat and clean. Mac and I enjoyed having them stay and would welcome them back with open arms.
Two thumbs up for these guests.
