Hi, born and reared in West Cork. I have lived in the area for many years and deeply appreciate the beauty and welcome of the area and its people. I am a researcher and oral historian with a passion for art.
Unfortunately we didnt meet Michelle but we were on good hands and was a very nice stay. The house is lovely, in a perfect location if you like nature and relax. The house was huge for us and we only used downstairs (we were only 2).
The kitchen and living room space was our highlight, is a pleasure to cook with all that space and read all the maps and leaflets on the big table was such a pleasure.
The area was very nice and well comunicated to all the routes we planned. we did some hiking from home as there are some marked walks and loop walks you can do just from home. Some other days we drove to Beara Peninsula and Sheep's Head Peninsula and was perfect location for all our plans. We highly recomend the stay in the house and hope we can come back and stay longer!!
Dear Marius, thank you for the lovely review. I am so glad you enjoyed the cottage and got to get some walking in - new pan on the way! Hope to meet you next time.
If you're looking for a quiet and relaxing location Mary's cottage is definitely worth it! With 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms it was too big for two, but for a family it might be a perfect location with a lovely warden. Finally, it is rather close to the Killarney NP and the Ring of Kerry (both places are absolutely beautiful and must sees).
Just back from Michelle's cottage. It was everything we hoped for; bright, clean, comfortable. Nice quality furniture, plenty of books, relaxing & some very nice artwork. It was great to have such easy access to stunning walks in the surrounding hills. Soaking in the ultra large antique bath eased any aches walking and snuggling down in front of the stove rounded off the day nicely. The cottage is an ideal location for exploring West Cork and Kerry.
We would definitely recommend it and will be back.
Just wished we could have stayed longer.
