Response from Daniella:
I'm sorry you took airbnb's "flexible" check in/check out to mean "whenever you want". Flexible within reason, that goes for the check out of the previous guests as well. You can't expect that on a Saturday morning that the previous guests would have left and I would have cleaned the room and changed the sheets by 9am. The key is communication, and while I saw you messaged me on Friday night about your desired check in time, I did not get that message. 9 is early for me on a Saturday, especially when the previous night I spent with my parents dancing until 2 am.
The cheapest hotels in the area run for about 90 a night without taxes, and while close to my place, not good areas at all - and the ones that are ON the lake like mine run about 180. The cheap ones are without view, not close to bart, or access to a kitchen. Airbnb recommends I charge 80. But I charge 50 plus 10 per extra person. You knew how much it was before you booked it, had you told me you had money issues, we might have worked something else out.
Finally, it mentions on the description that I have two small dogs, it also offers a discount if you wanted to take the awesome little guys out.
Response from Daniella:
My most sincere apologies that I got my reservations mixed up, I thought it was a couple, as you said. However, everything was ready for you at check in time. This was not a problem.
My living room listing clearly states that I have dogs and that you are, indeed, in a living room and to bring ear plugs. The dogs had one accident (yes, he is 14 and it happens sometimes) nowhere near where you slept, near the porch, which was cleaned up first thing and I do apologize for that.
There was never a slammed door, the apartment is old and the bathroom door is loud when closed, again, which you wouldn't have heard with ear plugs.
I have traveled the world too, and there is nowhere where I have slept for 10 dollars a night (the discounted price I gave you) without expecting that people would be around. Normally I would not have put four people in my place but you were nice and seemed like you were traveling on a budget so I extended my place to you. I can't imagine finding another place for four people in the summer of San Francisco for the low cost you got for staying at mine.
My parents came and you would have never seen them. They came in late, were in a separate room for just one night of your stay, and slept in until after checkout time, it is unfortunate that you left for reasons that were never explained during your stay. Essentially had any of this been communicated DURING your stay, we could have easily resolved your issues.
Considering my other reviews, it is unfortunate that you had a bad experience, next time I would recommend you discuss with your host. And again, I apologize that I was unable to make your stay more comfortable.
