I'm working as a correspondent for European Broadcasting and live in and enjoy the up and coming Brooklyn neighborhood Bushwick.
I stayed in this room for 3 months during Spring.
First of all, the room and the whole apartment does NOT look like in the pictures. There isn't a living room at all, because there was built in a complete new room. Therefore, there is no window and it is very dark when you come in. In my bedroom was no desk, but instead of a desk there was another futon bed used as couch. As I studied in New York I really missed the desk, there was no place for me to do my homework and projects. Internet also didn't work very good, it often broke off.
The bed was very uncomfortable as it squeaked with really every movement!!
The kitchen seemed too dirty to me to cook, so I never did.
A plus was the own bath room, very rare in New York.
The surrounding of the apartment was okay, only 30 mins to Manhattan, but there are mostly Latin-Americans so you'd better love loud salsa music until late night!
Sasha was very nice and helpful although we did not see each other very often. I also have seen Marc only once and I was disappointed about how he handled the room handover, because all communication was only through mails.
All in all, I cannot completely recommend the room / apartment. It needs to be cleaned up and the pictures have to be updated to how the apartment really looks like, but for the 3 months I stayed there it was okay.
We had a really great stay at Marc's! The place was as described and perfect for the 4 of us. It's really close to the station and convenient supermarkets. Marc was extremely helpful leading up to our stay and answered all of our questions quickly. Sascha was an awesome host (with great taste in music!) and we loved having Gatsby there for a couple of days. Definitely recommend this place.
We stayed at Marc's place for 3,5 months. It was very nice. The room is good with a private bathroom.
Sascha, who lives there, is very nice and friendly. The contact with Marc was good and quick.
The location is very good, just 5 minutes walk from the subway. It takes 20 minutes to Union Square.
The neighborhood feels nice and safe.
We enjoyed our time here.
Marc's place was quite nice, as was the host.
The room I had was very small and adjacent to the road/street. Across the street from this building is a community housing of some sort. I did not enjoy the loud music they played till 2:00 am on work days (or any other days). I did not enjoy the loud cars that passed by with their loud music and honking at night. You say it is New York? Well, how comes I did not know?
The room I had was some sort of a living room --- the door is mostly glass and your cover is the blinds that Marc has on the door. This place is convenient (L and M trains to Manhattan) and has super markets within walking distance. I should also mention that the room got really really HOT and HUMID!
At one point, I had three other roommates, which turned to 4 eventually. This made the house feel crowded. There were only three cups, a couple of plates, plenty of forks and spoons, enough cooking pots and three chairs in the living room. When room mates have to cook and eat, having 5 people in such conditions becomes a challenge. Unless you want to clean up after people. The fridge was always full and the kitchen was always in some use. Fortunately, I had awesome room mates and things worked out well. I can imagine a situation where things go wrong.
The internet was ok when it worked. But they have it locked on N-speeds and when I needed to use linux for work, I couldnt connect to the internet. I would rather have internet (even if slow) than no internet. I hope Marc can work this out. I shouldnt have to argue about A, B, G, or N speeds and about what is better.
At one point I was locked out. I had all my keys!! It turns out, someone else must have had the key to the dead bolt (that was supposedly never locked) and Marc didnt seem to have an idea of who it was?! Or did you Marc? Anyway, long story short, we all ended up getting keys to the dead bolt, but I couldnt get it out of my mind that someone else had access to the building and Marc did not know. What if I was out running without my phone, or say it was late at night? How could I have gotten in?
I mention all these not to complain, but just to have information for those who care about the details.
I loved the place. I think it was a combination of having great roommates and being (email hidden). Overall, Marc (email hidden)e place was ok (my room especially) given the location in the house. Would I stay there again? Definitely, but not in that room.
Marc was very welcoming when I arrived, he even gave me a lot of tips where to find a cheap bike!
If the L-train is going (unfortunately it didn´t work as well as normally during my stay) Bushwick (email hidden) to live in and travelling to Manhattan is ok. And although the place is all right, it is very expensive compared with other places, even closer (or in) Manhattan.
Overall, If you don´t mind loud neighbors (and their salsa music) and cleaning your room before you arrive, it is a really nice place to live in!
The reservation was canceled 20 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.

Marc is a very helpful guy, always up for a chat — giving you ideas where to go, to make the most out of your New York experience. Thanks!
I moved to NYC and needed a place for my first month (until (email hidden)). I stayed at Marc's apartment for a month. It was a great experience. It is only about two blocks from the train station, so the location is very convenient.
The apartment is super cute, very comfortable, new, clean and well maintained. Having my own bathroom was a plus.
Marc was even open to let me host a friend who was visiting for 3 days. Since there was enough space for another person in the room, this wasn't even uncomfortable.
Sasha, Marc's friend who lives here is great as well, very friendly and helpful at anytime, if I needed anything or had any questions.
One of the reasons why I picked this place was because it is pet friendly. My cat lived here very happily, he loved laying on the sun at the windows and he actually cried the next two nights after leaving this place. He for sure misses it.
All the roommates were very thoughtful and nice to him too.
Thank you Marc for hosting us!
