Most of my travel is limited to going back and forth between my home in Seattle and Mesa, AZ, where my parents live. The past few years, I have been visiting them about every 8 weeks or so. I really want to get out of town just for fun, to shake out the cobwebs and get a different perspective on life.
I work 5 days a week as a massage therapist, and if I am being disciplined, I spend the other two days a week at my printmaking studio. Although with the beautiful summer weather, it is hard to be that dedicated. Fortunately, there is a beautiful dock about 200 paces from my studio, so I can take breaks and watch all of the boats heading to and from the Ballard Locks.
Right now I am fixated on going to Chicago. I had this crazy idea that I would go in Feb. 2012 for Restaurant Week. I even got a full-length down coat to prepare for the trip. Things didn't work out, and now I want to go while the weather is still decent. I want to revisit some favorite attractions from my last visit (the architectural riverboat tour, the aquarium, Gino's Pizzeria East, Second City) as well as go to a couple of gallery districts. I am on the lookout for new and different places to show my work. My website is (website hidden).
I plan to travel by myself, so I think it would be nice to stay with someone who is excited about where they live, who has definite opinions about FOOD, in particular. If you know what place has the best eggs benedict, please share!!
I am, not surprisingly, a cat person, so I would love to stay somewhere that has resident felines. That would be a big bonus.
