Stayed at Zoe and Steve's place in Gosport for work reasons, it was fine.
This flat is well located. Perfect for a short trip and very cheap !
Zoé is acommodating ! I recommend
Zoe and the place were great and we were really happy with our stay. What you get is basic but everything you need is there; kitchen, wifi, washing machine, shower, private bedroom and so on. The low price made us a little skeptical but we were pleasantly surprised. Zoe was really professional and quick to respond to us during our stay, and also kindly offered for us to leave our bags and bicycles there the following day while we did other things. It wasn't dirty, a little scruffy as you might expect. The people living there were really friendly and helpful too. If you're on a budget, it's perfect.
The neighbourhood is pretty good, very close to the seafront. The room, bathroom and the kitchen were very dirty. If it would have been clean, great appartment. But like that I can not really recommend it.
The reservation was canceled 19 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
The man who welcomed us was efficient and friendly. When we met some of the people living in the house they were friendly and didnt seem to mind us being there at all.
We were given a room at the top of the house which was good as we were out of the residents' way and had a bathroom directly next to our room. It felt secure as each room had its own lock.
The room had a double bed, desk, chest of drawers and wardrobe.
I agree with some of the other reviews that the cleanliness was not great. Whilst we expected the house to be unclean as it is a student house, i do feel that as it is expected to deep clean between tenants, if you are renting out a room for short stays like this, you should do a quick hoover and wipe the services. In the room the carpets were very dirty and the surfaces seemed to not have been cleaned for a while, we also had to dust off the mattress before making the bed. This is my only complaint.
The location was quiet and very easily accessible to all main parts of Portsmouth by bus and also near a coastal walk to southsea. It has a good row of shops v nearby and is walking distance from fratton station.
For the price this is a really good deal, i can't stress that enough. We would stay again.
When we arrived we waited some minutes until someone opened the door for us. He showed us around quickly, gave us code and key for the house and left. One of the bathrooms was in a terrible condition and very dirty the other one was okay, it wasn't cleaned as well which left it very dusty but it wasn't a problem for taking a shower. I'm happy we had our own bed rope, we even brought blanked and pillows, I probably wouldn't have slept in the stuff provided. The bed was okay, not the most comfortable one but well... For one night we could live with it but I wouldn't stay for longer.
Zoe's place will suit those with a taste for adventure and who don't mind roughing it. It's essentially a hostel, with the advantage that you get your own room. Four houses connect together through the back garden, everyone seems to know everyone else and they are all really friendly. The residents, who are mostly not British, are students on a budget, refugees from the financial crisis who have come to the UK for work, French kids learning English and transients like me, who have booked a room for a few days. If you like to party, I think you'll find company there on any given night. The accommodation is very, very basic and a bit chaotic. To avoid confusion, make sure you get the door-codes and room number from Zoe before you arrive. One night, a new arrival came into my room at 1am because of a mix-up about the rooms, but it was sorted out without too much bother and Zoe refunded us both some money.
Zoe's house is perfect for guys unpretentious. It's in a good area and Portsmouth is really pretty.
The room was clean, the bed was quite confortable. These are the only positive comments I can write. Because the house was neglected, the 2 bathrooms were very dirty, the bins were filled out. It was'nt worth the low price we put in that room.
Friendly guests- quiet, clean & tidy- would recommend!
Paul was a great guest to have. Very friendly and easy to get along with. He was clean and tidy, also communicated well in terms of when he'd be arriving and leaving. All in all a great experience, and we'd be happy to host him any time.
He was very polite, good with informing when he would be arriving and be back and at the end of the day! He was a great guest and I would host him again any time and I can gladly recommend him!
Paul is a great guy - very friendly, obliging and respectful - it was a pleasure to host him - hope to see him again - strongly recommended to any host!
