Stayed here for the French Quarter jazz festival. Convenient location on Magazine Street. Lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance and public transportation to French Quarter, or about 15 minute drive. Easy parking on First Street or in private off-street parking space.
Gretta was a great host. My sister and I found the place easily with her directions and were very comfortable in the apartment. She was easy to reach by phone and very helpful with advice on how to get around and what sites to go visit. Perfect place to stay and travel to downtown on the trolley directly outside the apartment.
This was our 1st airbnb experience. Gretta was readily available to answer questions and her response time was impeccable! We really enjoyed our time and everything went very smoothly! We would do it again, it's a great option especially when hotel prices are through the roof!
Gretta's Garden District Gem on St. Charles worked well for me as I was between moves and my boyfriend had planned a visit months ago, the same week. The place was on the cheaper end compared to other listings I saw, so I figured we would give it a shot. The location was easily accessible to anywhere we needed to go. I do have a car here and there was plenty of street parking, but the street car is also right in front of the apartment complex too. The apartment itself, once inside was as described and photographed. The outside/access to the inside may have been a little less than expected (hallway had a strange smell to it), but if you're looking for ease and affordability rather than luxury, this is a good spot. Gretta responded promptly to my questions before booking and met my boyfriend for check-in at 3pm. Unfortunately, I never got to meet her as she was not around for check-out. All in all, if you are looking for a less expensive, convenient location you should book Gretta's Garden District Gem!
Had a great stay at Gretta's "Garden District Gem." Location is ideal! I love it that I am renting an entire apartment -- not just a room in a house. This building faces St. Charles and is just a block from a Trolley Stop -- and just steps to Commanders Palace and St. Louis Cemetery. Although it was an apartment complex, it was very quiet. The apartment was appointed with very nice furniture -- and everything was clean and well kept. I would definitely stay here again. On-street parking was very easy to find. (My only caution is to not let your GPS unit take you through the neighborhoods directly north of here!)
This was a fantastic location in New Orleans. Very convenient to the #11 bus that runs up and down Magazine Street, taking you practically every place you'd want to go. It's not a far walk from the trolley on St. Charles Avenue either, which is another easy way to get around. The space itself is a great size for 2 people and we really loved having a refrigerator and balcony for our stay.
Great location and close to so many cool parts of the city. Safe neighborhood, and only about 3 blocks from the Streetcar. The host was very responsive to any questions, and had us all set up for a hassle free arrival. Clean, comfy and convenient.
Great neighborhood, excellent host, fantastic place. handled a last-minute booking during St. patties day really well. would highly recommend
The wife and I stayed at Gretta's Garden District Gem for a week this March in order to escape SXSW and we had a fantastic time. What is really cool about Gretta's place is that you are smack dab in the middle of one fantastic neighborhood with tons of character. Also, within walking distance to a lot of options for food, drink and exploration. The place itself was very cozy and was a nice retreat. It was extremely clean with a funky style and the bed - super comfortable. We had a fantastic experience here, and didn't encounter loud neighbors, dirty carpets, roaches or anything else some other reviewers were complaining about.
You like staying in fancy/clinical/soulless hotels in the middle of downtown where you are waited on, hand and foot? Well then, this is not the place for you.
But say you are the adventurous sort who enjoys staying in cozy place, in a proper neighborhood; to get a real feel for the city and day-to-day life in New Orleans? Then the Garden District Gem cannot be beat. We would stay here again in a heartbeat, and hope to do so again in the future.
Thank you Gretta, your place is awesome.
We had a great experience at Gretta's place. The apartment was cozy, cute, and clean. Great location and great price. Would stay there again!!
