Ravi de vous accueillir à Bordeaux.
Great location near the market, close walk to many sites of interest and the centre. Would highly recommend. Read the fine print re bringing own sheets/towels. But overall, great place, and the host is very responsive.
Jean Paul's flat in Bordeaux is beautiful. It's centrally located, near one of Bordeaux's coolest markets, very close to the tram line, and a quick walk to the quais and other parts of the centreville. The flat itself was well-equipped with things for cooking, it's very spacious and very comfortable. Everything worked as it should (water, heating, lights) -- overall one of the nicer flats I've been in in Bordeaux (which is saying a lot considering I lived there for 2 years)!
I did have 2 cons while staying there. The first wasn't a huge problem: a man came by to repair a couple of things, but Jean had not warned me. I answered the door, but did not let the repairman inside, as I didn't know him. However if I hadn't opened the door, apparently he would have let himself in!! I contacted Jean afterwards, and he apologized and agreed that he should have told me. I didn't feel threatened, but as a girl staying alone somewhere, this could have been a bad, or even dangerous, experience.
The 2nd issue: Jean's friend Hélène had my deposit and we had arranged to meet at 12h the day of my departure for the inspection/ to return my deposit (my passport). By 12h05 I called her, and she had thought that we were meeting at 14h! It was lucky that she wasn't busy and came right away. But it still took her 30 minutes to arrive... She was nice, and apologetic, but it caused a LOT of unneeded stress, seeing as I had transportation arranged.
In the end, everything worked out just fine. I enjoyed the flat very much, and it's unfortunate to remember that last very stressful moment as I impatiently waited for Hélène to arrive. All in all, I definitely recommend Jean's place -- just be very clear when you make arrangements for "checking out" !!
Nous avons passé un très bon séjour à Bordeaux. L'appartement de Jean-Paul et Sarah est agréable (spacieux, lumineux, propre) et nous avons très bien dormi!
This apartment is really nice and spacious. The interior design is comfortable and gives out the aura of the coziness of a home. At night, it is perfectly quiet. Personally, my favorite thing about this apartment is the view in the morning, when you can see people greeting on the streets, and the sun light shines in the perfect angle. Also, the apartment provides some daily necessities which suit perfectly for travelers like us. We can cook our own meals so that we don't have to eat out all the time. The location is very convenient. It is right next to the market and 15 mins walk from the center of the city and the train station. My friends and I simply love it! The only down side is the wifi, which is a little unstable at times. Yet, if you need the internet for checking email, (website hidden)ing or searching for information, it won't be a problem at all. Overall, we think it definitely worth it! I highly recommend this place!
Jean Paul's and Sarah's place has a lot of light and space. We thought it was a very pleasant and relaxing experience to stay there.
It is Maisonette style with an upper, small room that serves as a bedroom and a lower, big room with a very high ceiling (living room/kitchen). A nice arrangement.
We found the apartment's location to be perfect. It is on the second floor and thus quiet, but situated right in the middle of the lively neighborhood of St. Michel. There are lots of small shops, restaurants and a market hall (marché des capucins) right around the corner. It's a 500m walk to a tram stop - be it either Victoire (B-line) or St. Michel (C-line).
The place was reasonably clean, the kitchen well equipped and - quite important since we travelled there in November - the heating worked extremely well and made it warm and cozy.
The bed might not be to everyone's taste as the matress is set not on a slatted frame, but instead on a tight, metallic "net" that may start bouncing.
Jean Paul (email hidden): easy going, rapidly responding to all our questions and always willing to help.
Thanks a lot! The appartment is very spacious well located right in between the city centre and the station. Definitely a good choice.
