Have lived in Philadelphia, Ithaca, New York City, Lake Lugano and Topanga Canyon... short story writer and marketing consultant..
Not our best experience, but we understand that Julie was out of town and thus a caretaker was provided in substitute at the premises. We would have liked to have known in advance.
Pros... Beautiful canyon. Hygienic supplies provided. Julie was responsive via text. Great value.
Cons... Cobwebs in the corners. At least 10 spiders found, plus more that we could not reach. Grout in the shower. Party in the main house Sunday night well past 11 pm. Parking on the side of the dirt road was inconvenient, when the spaces in front of the garage we unoccupied during our three night stay (except during the party).
Overall experience... We came for the reviews. Perhaps another time with Julie present would have been better.
Julie's guesthouse was exactly what I needed for a nice and quiet mini-getaway. The space was very comfortable and in such a lovely location, and the hosts were incredibly friendly and accommodating. I wish I had been able to stay longer and will definitely go back the next time I need to get out of the city.
Great pad for its purpose. Super friendly host.
Our stay at the guest house in Topanga was perfect. The house is situated on a quiet, beautiful property and is exactly what we were hoping for. The hosts were amazingly cool and helpful too! Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a weekend getaway.
Lovely little spot with very sweet host. Came with our 2 yr old daughter and had she been willing to hike it would have been even better! Balcony is large and perfect for a little yoga, tea, tree gazing and sun soaking.
We loved this cottage and its gorgeous mountain setting. The kitchenette, shower and toilet are are all in one room, which has no door, so make sure that you are intimate if you are traveling with another person (i.e. comfortable with hearing each other use the toilet). This is a very idyllic little getaway.
Best place to stay in Topanga. Perfect everything.
The beauty of this little cabin is the setting... driving up a windy road, past the former homes of rock stars (hello Danny Elfman!),, eclectic driveways, a coyote or two, and the neighborly dog who sits on the side of the road to check out what's going on.
Once you get to your destination, the cabin is down a couple of sets of stairs, past the main house. And the setting is again, the best. Dine on the porch outside and soak in the atmosphere of the mature trees around you, and the howling coyotes at night.
The cabin itself is basic - a futon bed, a simple chair, and the necessities for making a pot of tea or a simple meal on a hot plate. It is less fancy than other AirBNB places that I have stayed, but no matter. Normally I would be annoyed with the spotty phone service and wifi, but it allowed me to wind down. And I knew that my host would certainly let me use the land line in the main house if I needed to.
Happy travels to Topanga!
Julie is awesome, easy to work with, and her recommendations are stellar. The place is super clean and a true Topanga experience. Will definitely return.
I had the perfect stay at this wonderful cabin. It seems Julie has thought of everything. I was looking to getaway to focus on a writing and design project and it between the cabin and the town, it proved to be the right amount of scenery, distance, and amenities. I already look forward to going back. Julie was friendly and accommodating.
