Love people and entertaining, have lots of friends, and enjoy everything Hawaii has to offer!!
I had a wonderful stay with Terri! She was so welcoming and really went out of her way to share her beloved Hawaii with me. I really appreciated this especially as I was travelling on my own and didn't get a chance to do much research before I arrived!! Terri's house was lovely, in a great location and I loved hanging out with her two dogs! I can recommend her place to anyone!
I had the pleasure of staying at Terri’s place for two weeks, and enjoyed it very much. Terri is a sweet angel, very accommodating and helpful, always ready to make adjustments to make my stay more pleasant.
The house is in pretty much a perfect location. It’s about a half mile from the beach in one direction and a 5 minute walk to a shopping mall in another direction. And close to the H1 freeway, making it easy to zip into town or out to Sandy Beach/Makapuu, etc. Also, there’s a bus to Waikiki at the shopping mall. It’s in the Kahala district of Honolulu, one of the priciest areas on the island, so lots of beautiful homes in the area. There is parking, in case you have a rental car, and it’s kind of a tight fit to get in and out, but manageable.
The room is small, but it’s off to the side of the house, and is private. It has a kitchenette with microwave, fridge, sink, and coffee maker, and a private bathroom, and also a little front lanai/porch type area with a table and a couple of chairs for relaxing. It has cable TV and a small desk in the room. There is a washer/dryer in the back, outside, but I never used either; choosing to wash by hand in the morning and hang clothes out to dry in the sun during the day. One drawback about the room is that it has no air conditioning, and it does get quite hot in there during the day, even with a fan on. It cools down enough during the night though.
I slept on a sofa futon the first night and it was not very comfortable. Terri replaced it with a queen size mattress and that was fine, although it sat up a little high, being on top of the sofa frame.
I often enjoyed going to the nearby Kahala beach park around dawn for a walk on the beach to see the sun come up. That same beach is great for kayaking when it’s not too windy because it’s well within the surf line and is shallow and protected. Diamond Head, Kapiolani Park, and Waikiki are all not too far away, just a few miles. Magic Island, about 5 miles away, was an outstanding place to watch sunsets at.
I’d definitely recommend Terri’s place to anyone.
Terri should be the Hawaiian ambassador. She was wonderful in sharing her comfortable home, and also introducing me to friends & family (Maille & Keikei), She was great in offering me transport, and giving me insights into the best eating and shopping (The bargain shops were amazing!) The perfect welcome to a visitor in a new country. Cheers Terri
Private and convenient! So loved the walk up Diamond Head nearby and farmers market, and don't forget THE MALL. She provided carport parking, everybody fit, and laundry privilege(needed). Dog lovers only though, Sweet but BIG (the dogs..) I would suggest a different (lighter) sleeping situation than the Futon and newer pillows with pillow COVERS (zip kind). Teri was FRIENDLY and helpful.
My experience at Auntie's little beach bungalow was great! It has everything my bf and I needed. The room was a bit too warm at times but the fan worked just fine (the AC was broken). Auntie was very accommodating and let us borrowed many different beach gears such as chairs, beach umbrella, towels, and snorkeling masks. We even got to meet one of her friends who took us hiking at Koko Head! I would highly recommend Auntie's beach bungalow to anyone or any couple! One small advice though: Hawaii is damp so bring bug repellant spray!
My daughter and I stayed wtih Terri for 6 nights. It was very pleasant and Terri was a great host. We spent much of our time with my family who live close by so we didn't have many opportunities to interact with Terri. But she was accommodating and very prompt whenever we needed assistance. We stayed in the studio and were very grateful for the privacy that it gave us. Being able to come and go as we wished was what we had hoped for. We had a wonderful experience.
Terri (and her tenant Jordan who picked me up at the airport) could not have been nicer!. Although I only spent a few hours staying at Terri's place, before catching an early morning flight back, I was vey grateful to be able to stretch out on the very comfortable bed and take a hot shower, rathe than trying to sleep in a chair at Honolulu airport! It's beautiful, calm and peaceful and Terri is a super gracious host. I totally enjoyed the brief time I spent there!
My stay here was private and most affordable! The birds woke me every morning to a new adventure and Terry (Auntie Tuna) acted as my personal tour guide! The studio had comfortable bedding, fresh fruit, TV, canopy parking and fresh towels. Among many other things Terry offered use of her maps and snorkel equipment making my vacation one of my best! Close to everything and you should like dogs!
terry is a wonderful hostess. she treated us as family, gave us a ride to and from the airport and helped us have fun. we loved her dogs and meeting some of her friends.
