What a lovely cottage! We enjoyed our stay here very much. All amenities were awesome. Was really a perfect get-away weekend and the location and house suited us very well.
Kimberlee gave us a warm welcome (even with relaxing music!) entering the cottage. She was very kind and gave us good help. It is well en tastefully equipped, of course with a lot of shells. We just missed the manatees who where behind the cottage that morning. The environment is pure nature! It starts in the spacious garden; you hear or see a lot of birds, butterflies etc. And we enjoyed the sunsets; the view from the shore (3 miles) was beautiful. We went with the available bicycles
We recommand to rent a canoe near the Rainbow Springs. Crystal clear water. We were close to some alligators and we saw a lot of turtles!
So we appreciated this cosy cottage very much and it is certainly recommandable.

Coquina Cottage was a perfect, tranquil haven on our road trip around Florida. The cottage was spotlessly clean and comfortable and although we never spotted the local manatee, we did see lots of wildlife in the beautiful gardens.
Phyllis and Kimberlee have obviously taken a lot of care to provide as comfortable a stay as possible - there were products in the bathroom, a fridge stocked with soft drinks and everything you could possibly need to cook, kick back and relax.
The cottage is in the most perfect location if you're thinking of swimming with manatees in Crystal River - we went on the 6.15am trip and got up close to lots of them. This was a real highlight of our trip so far.
I'd recommend the cottage, Kimberlee and Phyllis to anyone thinking of travelling in this area...it's like staying in a luxury hotel which is also a home!
Phyllis and Kimberlee were so welcoming, and the cottage is absolutely wonderful. It had everything we could have possible needed, and all the extras really made a difference for our stay. With full days visiting all the nearby vacation attractions, our downtime at the cabin ended up being an additional unexpected highlight. The cottage and property is beautiful, and was perfect for what we needed. We even got to meet Trio! Perfect for the 4 of us travelling, we felt right at home. A wonderful experience- thank you!
The Coquina Cottage was everything we hoped for and MORE!! What a lovely aerie in a wonderful little town. We were enchanted by the Coquina Cottage from the moment we pulled up in the driveway with the soft lighting and soft music welcoming us in. We had picked up my daughter from college and were looking for a few days respite from our hectic lives, Phyllis and Kimberlee delivered! From the ample continental breakfast on the beautifully decorated sun porch the first morning to hanging out at the dock, we enjoyed every moment and truly relaxed, even my daughter who is used to living in Miami and going every moment really enjoyed her stay. We wanted for nothing, Phyllis and Kimberlee made sure everything we needed was provided, even designer tea! Kimberlee came down to meet us and was so warm and inviting, it was a pleasure to meet her. I'm a travel agent and have been fortunate to visit many different places, I have NEVER felt so welcome and at home as I did at the Coquina Cottage. Don't hesitate, you won't be sorry. And Yes, there is plenty to do in the area, make sure to take a Withlacooche River cruise with Capt. Rick's Osprey Tours, ask for Captain Adair, she is amazing! Thank you Phyllis and Kimberlee for a wonderful mini vacation, we enjoyed every minute. We will definitely be back!!
We had a wonderful time staying at the Coquina Cottage. Kimberlee was a wonderful host and gave us some wonderful suggestions on what to see, where to go, the works! We enjoyed visiting the many parks that were in the area: including The Withlacoochee Trail near the Cottage. You could even walk right from the Cottage if you are in shape! We also did a tour with Crystal River Kayaking which was, by far, the best and most environmental way to see the Manatees in Three Sister Springs.
We enjoyed a lovely pontoon boat tour complete with history of the area that left from Issac Walton Lodge just a mile away from the cottage. River Adventures offered us a wonderful snorkeling with many Manatee sightings.
The cottage itself is fully furnished with lovely decor. There were two bikes and games for pleasure, (email hidden) out back. We saw Manatee swimming in the canal right behind the cottage.
The only suggestion we had was that it would be nice to have kayaks on site, but there is a kayak shop in town that will rent you kayaks for $35 dollars for three days if you have a way to get them back to the cottage. But obviously you should make sure you are knowledgeable about kayaking and the tides, ect... The cottage is also about 15 mins from town, which was great to get away from it all, but make sure that you get food and anything else you need there first.
We had a wonderful time and would recommend this as a wonderful get away and retreat. Enjoy!
We could not have been happier with our stay at the Coquina Cottage, it was amazing! Phyllis and Kimberlee were welcoming and gracious hosts, and have equipped the Cottage with all the finishing touches of a five-star bed and breakfast: immaculately set breakfast and dinner tables, a pre-packed picnic basket, robe and slippers in the bathroom, fully stocked kitchen including fresh pastries and Florida orange juice... and the list goes on. They truly thought of everything to make our stay as comfortable and fun as possible, including providing information on local activities and restaurants and offering an in-house coffee bar and liquor cabinet. Although you never wanted to leave, Coquina Cottage was conveniently located about three miles from gorgeous gulf sunsets and 20 miles from Crystal River, it could not have been easier to access all the area attractions and was a great escape from the tourist hub in Crystal River. Coquina Cottage was the perfect place to relax and enjoy the beautiful Florida coast, and we look forward to visiting again soon!
The Coquina Cottage was wonderful. Our hostesses kindly gave us some restaurant suggestions and some activities we could enjoy. The cottage is extremely well-equipped and could serve as a home away from home for months. We were also treated to pastries, muffins, bagels, coffee, juice and fresh fruit for the mornings which was a real treat. The fridge and cabinets are stocked with essentials (condiments, oil/vinegar, etc.) which makes this a really easy little getaway- less to pack and the ability to cook! The setting is quiet and lovely. We went kayaking one day along the Rainbow River, just a short 20 minute drive east. The next day, we decided to hike the Rainbow River state park which was lovely as well. We hope to return to this cottage soon, stay longer, and swim with the manatees in Crystal River. If you are looking for a peaceful, relaxing place to stay while you explore Florida's nature coast and all the wonderful rivers, springs, parks, and wildlife, this is the place to be. Thank you so much! Oh, and don't forget to try the steamed peel and eat shrimp at restaurants in this area- amazing! Our favorite was at the Blue Gator in Dunnellon right by the Rainbow River Kayak place.
Coquina Cottage was everything we hoped for: comfortable, charming, well-equipped in every way, and located on a very quiet street. Our hostess Kimberly was gracious, helpful and available to answer any questions we had. It was a 5 star stay.
Without doubt, the Coquina Cottage is worthy of 5 stars--more if it were possible! We were very impressed with the immaculate cottage and the exceptional decor. The beds were so comfortable, with beautiful soft cotton sheets and down duvets. The kitchen had everything we needed. Thank you for the beautifully presented pastries and the well-appointed kitchen. Amazing. The owner made such a thoughtful effort to make us feel welcomed. A real class act.
Yankeetown is gorgeous and there is so much to do in the area. Don't miss the steamed shrimp and hushpuppies at the Shrimp Landing--it was the best meal we had during our whole vacation.
If you are looking for a place to stay on the Nature Coast of Florida--and appreciate old Florida charm and privacy-- I seriously doubt you can find any place better than the Coquina Cottage.
Phyllis was the perfect Guest, and we feel grateful and honored that she chose The Magnolia House as her Gulf Coast destination for relaxation and a bit of adventure. Phyllis is charming, sophisticated, intelligent and engaging, and as one of our first guests, we could only hope that future visitors would be so wonderful. Sometimes our schedule does not permit us to interact with guests, but in this case, we were most delighted to find ourselves available to share a dinner "European Style" and the best part of our evening was the time spent with Phyllis. We appreciate our privacy and respect the privacy of our Guests, and Phyllis reciprocated in like-kind fashion seamlessly. Other than when we shared a few lively meals vibrant with conversation or a quick recommendation for a Nature Coast Outing, we hardly knew that she was here. She was appreciative and complimentary of the rooms and their appointments, food, activities, left the Suite practically in its arrived condition, and she was always gracious and quiet. We were greatly saddened at her departure, but gladly Phyllis plans to return. We very much look forward to hosting her again soon and often. To fellow airbnb'ers, a beautiful Guest such as Phyllis is exactly why this site is so amazing!
