Great place, we stayed here over Christmas and would definitely recommend it. Mark was quick to respond to any queries and made us feel very welcome and the apartment itself was very comfortable. The location is really good, close to two subway stations (one served by the express trains) so quick to get into lower Manhattan, and plenty of good restaurants, bars and parks in the local neighbourhood.
Host was welcoming and friendly. Check in via a key left in a lock box - great place, fresh towels and lovely furnishing and balcony. Nice area. Apartment as described and very well maintained.
We had a fantastic four day stay at this lovely apartment. Our host, Mark, paid attention to every detail. From the welcoming bottle of wine on our arrival, directions for getting there and tips on local places to eat and drink he could not have done more to make our stay better. The apartment was clean, tidy and comfortable with an amazing bed and the softest towels ever. We were sad to leave. It's a perfect apartment for a couple wanting a romantic getaway away from the hustle and bustle of downtown New York. There was excellent and swift communication with out host and smooth pick up and handover of keys. We have nothing bad to say about this place or the host. It's a great area too with all you need just on the doorstep - supermarkets, park, subway, etc. So much better than any hotel at an equivalent price. Highly recommended.
Mark was an excellent host. He was timely, communicative, left detailed instructions, and made sure we had a positive experience. His apartment was very clean and the photos matched the experience. We loved the deck, the neighborhood, the close access to the subway, and were so glad we stayed there.
We loved staying in Mark's apartment. The location was perfect, close to many great restaurants in Harlem and the Best supermarket. We also really enjoyed the art and cozy feel of the apartment. The best part about the apartment was the deck. We spent each morning enjoying our coffee listening to life being lived from the deck.
My stay at Mark's place was my first-ever use of Airbnb. I'm happy to report that Mark made it an extremely pleasant experience. When I booked the property, Mark contacted me within 24 hours after confirming the reservation, letting me know the process for getting access to the apartment, etc. When we arrived, Mark had left us a bottle of wine, a bottle of Mango juice, a big bowl of fresh fruit and several healthy snacks for us to enjoy.
The apartment was spotless, welcoming and charming. It's located in a great area of south Harlem, very close to Morningside Park and two metro stations. The queen-sized bed was very comfortable as was the sofa in the living room, and the bathroom was enormous with a fantastic shower. The kitchenette was equipped with all the basics and the fridge had plenty of open space. The private deck overlooking a tree-covered backyard was a beautiful (and in NYC, rare) bonus, especially since the weather was so great during our visit.
There are tons of great restaurants and an awesome, huge grocery story within a few blocks of the apartment, and both the building and neighborhood were very quiet and peaceful.
Mark's apartment might be the best lodging deal in the entire city and would be an excellent value at even twice the price. Mark was fantastic to deal with and guaranteed I'll be a repeat Airbnb user...especially if I need a place to stay in NYC and his apartment is available. Mark and his apartment both have my highest recommendation!
We had an amazing time at Mark's apartment! When we arrived, the apartment was spotless, and Mark had left us a bottle of wine and some snacks. The apartment is perfect for 2 people and is located near subway and bus lines (a 5 minute walk north or South takes you to the subway). There's a great grocery store nearby, as well as 2 wine shops and good dining. we found a place to get croissants and coffee, and went there every morning. The deck was great - not really warm enough to take full advantage, but I went out every day. The neighborhood is very quiet and safe. I would wholeheartedly recommend Mark's apartment, and would stay again, if the occasion arose. It felt more like staying in a friend's apartment.
This apartment is great! Very quiet, close to tons of restaurants, and easy access to the subway. The bed was super comfortable, and the place was clean and welcoming. We didn't meet Mark, but his friend Chrissy was really friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend this apartment, especially if you're looking for somewhere to stay close to Columbia.
Thank you very much!!
My partner and I had a wonderful experience at Mark’s place. The apartment is just as seen in the pictures – spacious and well-decorated. Maybe just a bit darker than in the pictures, but that wasn’t a problem. The bathroom is huge, bigger than any other Manhattan bathroom I’ve seen. And the terrace was possibly the best thing about the place – a silent little open space in the middle of the big city, truly a privilege! The apartment was very clean, and extremely well located. The location is PRIME! Literally a 3 minute walk to the A-C subway stop on 118th st , and 2 blocks from Frederick Douglas Boulevard, where you can find cafes, restaurants, supermarket, etc. At the same time, it’s half a block away from Morningside Park, in a silent street. We had never been to Harlem and it was truly a positive experience. Last but not least, Mark was a great host. He was very attentive and responsive via email before our arrival, even when he was travelling. His friend Chrissy was responsible for our check-in and check-out and everything worked out perfectly: she was very punctual and also very welcoming, showing us the apartment and giving us great neighborhood tips. And to our surprise, Mark had left us a bottle of wine in the apartment when we arrived! I would definitely recommend this apartment for anyone looking for a comfortable and calm place to stay in NYC.
Mark and I have been friends since serving in Peace Corps, Kenya together back in 2003. As a veteran Airbnb host, I could not think of neither a host or space more perfect for your trip to NYC. The apartment is in a beautiful Harlem brownstone on a quiet tree lined street. The space itself is perfect. It is decorated with things from all the world, extremely tidy and pragmatic. The apartment faces the backyard so it is unusually quiet. Finally, if you want a real Manhattan experience, this address could not be better. It sits right in the heart of Harlem and its amazing culture. If I was visiting NYC, this is exactly where I would want to be.
