My wife and I own a charming 1937 vintage cabin in Brightwood, Oregon that we adore...and we want to share it with others that crave a quiet mountain retreat along the Sandy River.

The cabin is lovely: beautifully furnished, carefully maintained and very well equipped. It's clean and comfortable to the point of being luxurious -- especially for people used to camping -- and we felt very spoiled there. It's easily accessible from Portland and yet in a world of its own, surrounded by peaceful woods and mostly invisible neighbors. I would definitely recommend it! Unfortunately my German cell phone caused some communication problems with the owners -- I was getting their messages but they weren't getting mine -- but it all turned out right in the end.
This cabin was nothing but magical! It's tucked away in a quiet neighborhood with lots of greenery and just a short walk to the river. Judith welcomed us and made us feel right at home. Everything about this experience was just perfect. Thank you!
Gwenn was a gracious host, meeting us at check-in to open the cabin and show us how everything was laid out.
This is a terrific getaway spot - peaceful and beautiful, historic to boot! We had a very relaxing long weekend and would recommend the Pinery to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing hideaway spot!
We stayed at The Pinery for the second leg of our PNW honeymoon and it was nothing short of awesome. Everything was adorable, cozy, and charming. Even though it was just the two of us, we commented on what a perfect escape it would be for a family. We were close enough to drive into Portland everyday without feeling like we spent a ton of time driving. Judith and Gwenn really thought of everything for a perfect stay for their guests. And, like other guests mentioned, even the bed was comfortable! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect spot to relax and enjoy a nice stay in the woods.
Anyone wanting a unique experience at mount hood needs to stay at the pinery! Such an amazing little cabin close to every activity you would want!
A great place to stay! We had a very cozy and relaxing experience at Pinery. Even the bed was really comfortable! A perfect place, the quintessential cabin in the woods. All the amenities you could think of. We hope to come back and experience the magic of this special cabin again.
We had a lovely experience at The Pinery. The cabin is adorable, cozy, and well stocked with firewood. We were really comfortable. The walk down to and along the riverfront was picturesque, and the cabin was a great home base for our snowshoeing adventures. The hosts were really helpful and had great suggestions for where we could go do some winter things. Thanks again for a great stay!
The cabin is charming and Gwen & Judith are very thoughtful in the details throughout the house. Everything that we might need was there, including a well appointed kitchen, and there was lots of info about activities in the area. It was a delight to stay there.
Truly exquisite rustic and cozy retreat. All needs accounted for, right down to the flannel sheets and Pendleton blanket. The walk to the river is a dream, and the proximity to the snow and ski areas is perfect. Thank you!
Great guests. We would greatly recommend them to anyone. Took good care of our cottage.
It was a pleasure to host Gwenn and her friends. No complaints when guests leave gifts of fresh ground coffee and exotic cheeses in the fridge!
They were very nice guest.
Gwenn & Judith have a gorgeous cabin nestled in the woods on Mt. Hood, steps away from the Sandy River. Every time I'm there, I can't decide if I'd rather enjoy the cozy beauty inside, or the glorious outdoors. They have really attended to every detail to ensure that the experience is perfect.
They are fabulous hosts because they think of what their guests need, and they make sure everything is perfect. This is how they conduct themselves in every other part of their lives, as well!
This cabin is perfect for couples or small groups of friends. While I have stayed there with my young children comfortably, it's really better suited adults due to the open stairway and catwalk. The catwalk & upstairs loft are actually really fantastic!
My sister and her wife have this amazing 1937 vintage cabin near Brightwood Oregon, approx. one pleasant drive from (website hidden). Hood watches over this refuge. Two minute walk to the hammock stretched over the Sandy River; and a quick jaunt over over to Wildwood Recreation Park where you can wander among ferns, firs and flowers, crossing the Salmon River and hiking on the mountainsides. Bring your favorite foods to prepare in their cozy kitchen, or visit the nearby restaurants and cafes which have surprisingly good food. The beds are cozy and the catwalk is a hoot!
This location would make an ideal stop off during a NW adventure of mountain, sea and city! Hey, I just may have to try that!
Gwenn and I have known each other for years, and her wife Judith and I have become close as well. The Pinery is the quintessential get-away, tucked away in a rustic setting, yet close to all the Mt. Hood region has to offer. My partner and I love to explore the nearby Wildwood Recreation Park and then head to the quaint food hub to enjoy drinks and desserts at the Rendezvous Cafe. Trips to Timberline are a breeze, and several years in we've yet to barely scratch the surface of the nearby trails! Gwenn and Judith have made the sweetest of home's away from home with the cabin furnishings and thoughtful details. I hope you get to experience this wonderful place; if you do, you'll want to come back again and again.
Gwenn and I are great friends and hiking buddies. Her wife Judith has also become a good friend over the years. I absolutely love staying at their cabin. It's remarkably charming, well appointed and quaint as can be! Gwenn and Judith are both great hostesses, and I'm certain you'd enjoy staying at their cabin. Although you might not get a chance to meet them in person, I know they'd make sure that every detail is addressed for you so you enjoy the cabin to its fullest. Gwenn is quite familiar with the trails and restaurants in the area, so she'd be a great guide for your time on the river.
