Fantastic experience! Louise and Colin were lovely and welcoming hosts who went out of their way to make my stay comfortable—from rescuing me when my rental car was stuck at the bottom of the driveway to offering delicious home cooked meals during my stay. The home and, especially, the bedroom were very cozy during my winter stay and boast an incredible view. The pictures don’t quite do the place justice. I’d love to return someday and would definitely recommend. Great conversation, delicious food, and a breathtaking view!
I had an excellent experience staying with Louise and Colin. They are extremely hospitable and made me feel at home. The room has a breathtaking view of the woods and the bay. Room was very comfortable and Louise had gone an extra step to add certain things like tea in the room. The homemade breakfast was delicious and they were gracious to invite me for supper as well. They also gave me suggestions as to what all to do and where all to go in Halifax. I definitely recommend and would love to go back. They are definitely super hosts!
Thanks, Archi that's kind of you. It was fun having you visit.
Louise and Colin were gracious hosts and we felt extremely welcome in their home. The house and overall feel of the environment exceeded our expectations. Everything was described accurately except that the pictures definitely did not portray the real beauty of the house and property. We knew it would be beautiful, but were stunned by the actual views. The neighborhood was quiet, remote and safe. Our visit was short but worth every minute. Louise was kind enough to allow us such a short visit and take us on a beautiful hike around the area. Would highly recommend. A gorgeous, hidden place with wonderful hosts.
We had such a great time staying with Louise and Colin. They were so helpful with our plans throughout our stay of places to eat and places to see. They made us feel so at home and comfortable from the moment we got there. Breakfast was amazing with homemade bread, granola and jams. The room was very clean and the bed is very comfortable. The views from the room are absolutely breath taking and a wonderful way to wake up in the morning. They were so kind as to invite us to join a party they were having with their friends and it turned out to be such a great night. We had lovely conversation with both of them. They truly are genuine and wonderfully kind people. We will definitely be back!
Thanks, Mike. It was great having you both here and delightful to be part of the birthday surprise.
We had such a great experience staying with Louise and Colin. You will find yourself in an idyllic setting with warm, welcoming hosts. The room has the most incredible views and you are within reasonable distances for great sights. Louise and Colin have great suggestions for what to do and see. We will be back for sure!
Louise and Colin were phenomenal hosts, and their home was exactly as promised and more. When we first arrived, Colin gave us a tour of the beautiful space we would be staying in, and a tour of the rest of the house-- and he made clear that we were welcome to join them downstairs and make ourselves at home.
The room they provided has an amazing view of St. Margaret's Bay, and both the room and the bathroom were very comfortable and clean. They were kind enough to provide breakfast every morning, plus a few other refreshments in the evenings after long days of hiking and sightseeing. And it was very nice to come home to their dog and their cat, who were each a lot of fun.
Our trip was short (three nights), so we didn't have a chance to really make the most of their hospitality. But we did get to spend some time with them, and they were friendly and very helpful.
Their home (at the top of an intimidating-- but definitely manageable-- hill) is in a beautiful area about a half-hour drive from downtown Halifax. Colin and Louise provided us with recommendations for food and destinations to visit and to avoid, which made for a very enjoyable trip. (The highlight was probably a hike on our last day at Duncan's Cove, including seeing the sun-bathing seals that Louise "guaranteed" would be there.)
Everything about our trip surpassed our expectations, in large part thanks to our hosts' hospitality and local knowledge.
During our stay with Colin and Louise in their breathtaking home, Louise informed us that they had been awarded by airbnb as superhosts: and that they truly are. When we arrived at their location, Louise personally came out to welcome us and showed us where to park. Louise and Colin were proactive and quick to make us feel at home.
The room offered a breathtaking view of St. Margaret's Bay, and gives you a feeling of being remote. In fact, their house is in a convenient location, and close to all amenities, as well as being close to Halifax and attractions such as Peggy's Cove. Colin and Louise's suggestions of local eateries, bookstores and other hidden gems were some of our best experiences during our travels in Nova Scotia.
Louise and Colin were always explicit that their home was our home during our stay. The breakfast that they served every morning was absolutely delicious, with homemade bread, granola and marmalade. We were privileged to experience their hospitality when Colin and Louise offered to share their dinner and their evening with us. We were so touched by their kindness and hospitality. Truly a home away from home!
Our hosts were friendly and welcoming. We immediately felt "at home" in their presence and their lovely house. We were offered hot tea (and other beverages) on arrival. The driveway to the house is long and difficult, but worth it in the end. Comfortable bed and large fully equipped bath; awesome view from bedroom. Breakfasts were simple and wholesome with homemade bread, jam and granola. We enjoyed chatting with our hosts about travel, books, and shared perspectives. Suggestions on day trips were most helpful.
Louise and Colin are the consummate hosts! They immediately made me feel welcome and continually invited me to make myself at home. I never felt like I didn't belong there. And the house is simply gorgeous. The room is light and airy and wonderful. You have a fabulous view of the water during the day and the stars at night. The bathroom is truly an experience with windows all about. Don't miss out on the opportunity to stay here. It will be a highlight of your trip!
Louise and her husband were wonderful hosts! It was our first Airbnb experience, and it couldn't have been better. They were super friendly and welcoming. We really felt at home! And our toddler fell in love with their dog! Breakfast was excellent: everything homemade, from the bread to the jam to the granola.
Louise, was a very good guest. She is friendly, sociable person, I really enjoyed to host her and will be glad to host her again.
Louise and her son, Josh, stayed four nights in my space, The Cocoon Room. Louise is a superhost in Nova Scotia, and a bit of a superguest. Friendly, charismatic, independent, and tidy, it was a pleasure to host her and I hope to stay at her space in Nova Scotia one day too.
Louise and Colin were wonderful guests! They were friendly and easygoing, I really enjoyed talking with them. I would definitely recommend them as guests!
