We really enjoyed this unit. The location of the complex, just south of Kona, is very convenient to all the fun things to do in the area. The unit is located just steps from a beautiful pool area. Jon was extremely responsive to our needs. Very clean, nicely remodeled unit, with all supplies you could possibly think of. Thank you Jon!
Jon's townhome was a great place to stay. Getting in once I arrived in Kona was quick and the place was as described.
We stayed our first 2 nights in Kona at the Ab Fab townhome. It was a great experience. The location is perfect, near the snorkling beach, and the magic sands beach. It also has a private beach to walk on, but not swim, however there is a pool which we loved. The townhouse is in a gated community, it felt very safe and was very quiet. The townhouse has 2 bedrooms upstairs and the living space downstairs. It does get a little hot upstairs but there is a a fan to plug in, as well as the ceiling fan that made it just fine. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, silverware, and other appliances. We loved the table on the lanai (porch). We ate every meal out there because it was so peaceful and beautiful. Although we were not traveling with children there was a high chair and pack and play. We also loved being able to use the snorkel gear. Saved us some money at the beach. Two restuarants we LOVED eating at that are SUPER close were the Royal Thai Cafe, and Sam Choy's. For sure you have to eat there! We would totally come back again!
Great location! Very tasteful and modern home. Super safe gated neighborhood. The snorkeling and beach gear provided was icing on the cake. Jon is a very nice and accommodating guy, I will definitely be calling him on my next Kona trip.
My .family had a great experience at this rental. We were allowed to check in a little early. There was lots of snorkel equipment. having snorkel equipment on the property saved us money. There is beach to snorkel in about a ten minute walk from the rental. There is a grocery store walking distance from the townhouse. There is trolley stop near the townhouse. One can ride all over Kona for two dollars one way on that trolley. We did not have a car for the first day and used the trolley. We used the Netflix and Amazon Prime movies that were provided. There is a great beach for sunsets walking distance from the townhouse. It was a very comfortable... everything was provided. My family loved it.
The location of Jon's condo is great. It is just a few minutes from a shopping center that has a KTA grocery store, an L & L restaurant and Bianelli's pizza - all handy for a condo stay. It is also just a few minutes from a great snorkeling beach as well as minutes from the White Sands beach which was fun for boogie boarding. Jon has a cooler and beach chairs available for guests to use. There appeared to be other equipment available as well but we had our own snorkel gear and the boogie board in Jon's closet was broken. We found the condo to be very clean and the kitchen well stocked. The complex was quiet with nice grounds. The pool was on the large side with only a few, or even no other residents in it, when we used it. Also, you can walk down by the shoreline at sunset and it is really beautiful (no beach/swimming type of access though - all volcanic shoreline). Our only complaint about the condo was that the upstairs was very warm - 87 degrees on our watch thermometer at bedtime, with it getting down to 80 during the night - even with fans going we found the upstairs to be pretty stifling. The downstairs, however, is comfortable as it is serviced by a small air conditioner unit. Maholo Jon!
We (my sister and our boyfriends) stayed in Jon's townhome for 2 nights and I wish it could have been so much longer! To begin with, Jon allowed us to check in early and gave me information on how to fly from Honolulu to Kona. When we arrived, the place was immaculate and cozy. The beach was just a short walk away, and the patio was a perfect area to hang out, eat dinner, and have a drink. The place is about 10 minutes away from all major shopping areas (including the Kona brewing company!) and 20 minutes from the airport. Best of all, it's very close (within walking distance, even) of the Poke Shack, where there is freshly caught poke and really nice owners. The snorkeling at the adjacent beach was spectacular as well - we saw quite a few sea turtles without even trying very hard, and Jon generously provided all the equipment needed, including beach chairs, coolers, snorkels, gear, and towels.
Out of the three places I booked in Hawaii (two in Oahu, one in Big Island), this was my favorite. I highly recommend Jon's townhome and I hope to return again!
My two friends and I had a great experience staying at Surf and Racquet Club. Being our first time in the Big Island, we thought this was the perfect location for everyday needs (food etc) and tourist points. We stayed for one week and was able to travel all through the Big Island including Hilo, the northern area and Southern Points conveniently with no more than 2h drive to the furthest point. We had originally intended on moving to another location (in Hilo) for the second part of the trip to explore the island but felt so comfortable at the townhome that we decided against the move despite a cheaper price elsewhere. For the location, the townhome is reasonably priced especially for a family. It has everything that you may need for your stay including cooler, beach towels, boogie board, snorkeling gears etc. The house is well maintained and spacious.
Jon was a great host. He responded to my calls promptly. We had a delayed flight and required a (very) late check out and he was very accomodating.
In retrospect these are a few points that made this place convenient: Ab Fab is very close to "the Poke Shack" (best poke), large clean laundry which was very convenient, an available telephone for booking places, cable and wifi because the town shuts down at 9pm, plenty of towels for the beach and in house, two bathrooms and showers!
I would highly recommend this place!
The surf and racquet club is conveniently located, near the Keauhou shopping center (great hula show every Friday 6 pm), in a walkable distance to a nice beach and not too far from the city of Kaiula Kona.
The home is comfortable, the living room has air con, which was very pleasant. There is plenty of space for your luggages and there is snorkeling material available.
Also the swimming pool is very nice and you have great views on the ocean from the shoreline.
The least pleasant points :
The home lacks of lightness., even on a sunny day
The rear garden isn't really private, you can't feel at home.
I didn't see at all my host. I sent a mail about the rice cooker which was broken but I didn't have any answer. We found the welcoming quite impersonal then...
Anyway, it was a nice stay in a pleasant club at a good price.
We had a fantastic time at Jon's place. Everything was exactly as he said it would be. It was clean, nicer than the pictures, and felt spacious and refreshing. He really treats "Room 49" as a professional rental and even had great tour guides and magazines available, which we used. Also, being a first time mom, it was fabulous not having to bring all the necessary tools for my infant. Jon had a pack n play, high chair, baby tub available, so it was a breeze! The shopping center nearby made it so easy to stock up on food and grab incidentals.
Thanks Jon, we had a lovely time!
