Great location for checking out events at MSG and within a quick walk of subway and high line park. Clean and well stocked with towels, etc.
Jon is a wonderful host! This is a GREAT place to stay for the price in NYC. It's on a beautiful street in Chelsea close to Penn Station, subways, restaurants, coffee shops, and more! It was very clean with a nice shower and comfortable bed. Jon was communicate and very accessible by phone. Key exchange couldn't have been easier. Highly recommend!
The small apartment was perfect for what we were in the city for. It offered everything we wanted. Jon was the perfect kind of host. He made sure we were settled comfortably, then left us to it and never had a peep from him UN the 2 nights we were there. I could not recommend this place any more
Nos quedamos una semana en el apartamento de Jon, todo muy bien, totalmente recomendable.
Jon's apartment was clean and cozy. He was very accommodating and helped us check in with no issues. He also allowed us a late check out and made sure we had a comfortable stay. Also a great place in nyc and right by MSG!
The location can't be beat and the apartment does the job; however, this isn't the most comfortable place I've stayed. Jon is very responsive and made sure I was able to check in late when my plans changed due to weather.
Jon was an amazing host and such a lovely person. He kept in contact with us throughout our stay, and we knew if we needed anything at all he was available. Jons place was fab. If you want to experience real New York it is the perfect location - 3 minutes to penn station with the whole of Manhattan at your fingertips. Jon's place was clean cosy and had all the amenities you would require. As we were there for just short of 3 weeks some evenings it was nice to just watch tv and cook a nice meal and relax. The roof terrace is lovely although as it was very very cold and snowing (February) we didn't spend too much time up there! There are great views of the memorial tower and the Empire State building from the terrace. I would definately recommend Jons apartment to anyone who wants a true New York experience. It is on the 2nd floor and no elevator so may not be suitable for all but we loved it and would stay there again without question.
Very friendly host. Great communication. Clean, cozy studio in a convenient area of Chelsea. Subways, restaurants, and galleries all within walking distance. Will stay here again! Thank you!
The apartment is in a great location, only two blocks from Penn Station and in a pleasant street. Access was a bit of an issue as we had to wait as the people who were meant to meet us with the keys were available but it was only about 15 minutes. On entry the apartment was small and very cluttered. Jon needs to throw out lots of old broken furniture and books that are covered in dust. The apartment was meant to have a kitchen. it doesn't. there are two camp style gas burners and a series of plug in applicances all running off one power point. A real fire hazard. There is no sink in the kitchen area, only one large tub in the bathroom. The fridge was old and rusty. There was no washing machine and when asked we were told we needed to take the washing to Jon's friends place twenty houses down the street. we didn't! Although it was winter there was no evidence of the garden or BBQ. The apartment was incredible hot and the windows were hard to access to open due to grates on them. Good location and the place needs a good clean the throw out of the junk and honest description and it would be a good place to stay.
The studio apartment on 357 West 30th street sits 5 minutes away from Penn Station! The location is perfect for the Chelsea areas and near the Fashion and Theater Districts.
The building is pre-war. We climbed three flights of narrow stairs to reach the apartment. The heat was on because it's winter. The apartment was very, very hot.
A nice Latino couple in charge of cleaning met us (they were still cleaning after the former guest). When we mentioned the heat, the man suggested that we turn on the air conditioner to make the room cooler. We did not. He had told us how to open the fire scape window; we opened it just a bit at night so we could get a cooler room and some air. The level of noise increased with the open window.
Like the building, the furnishings are older and quaint, student apartment-style. Things were a bit dusty on top of the closets and hard to reach corners. The triple plug strip hanging from the wall to power small appliances we believed to be a fire hazard. A light hanging over the table was covered with dusty paper cut outs; it did not work and we did not try it because it too could be a fire hazard.
There were two camping style one burner gas stoves. We ran out of gas on the second day and decided not to bother. We only made tea, not cooked.
The bathroom has a good glass encased shower; one of the faucets fell off when one of us opened it. We had good towels, hair dryer and hand soap. The large bathroom sink is multipurpose: washing dishes, clothes, brushing teeth.
The mirror on the wall near the bed was dusty. The bed was OK, but we could not be sure that the cover of the comforter had been washed. The feather pillows were old and prickly.
We reacted somewhat allergically to the place.
It is a convenient place if you have the energy to rough it up during your stay. We are not picky but we will try something different next time.
Jon was an exceptionally terrific guest ! Hosting people like Jon is what makes using this website so wonderful and so easy. We are lucky to have had the opportunity to meet such a great person and would welcome him back anytime!!
