We had a perfect stay at Casa Terraza San Miguel. The house is exactly as described in a quite and safe neigbourhood which is perfect if you are planning to stay with a family (we stayed with our two children, 3 years and 10 months old). It is a quick drive by car through narrow and winding roads from the house to the city center. Cecile was a very kind host and we could always ask her for some insider advice on restaurants and sights in SMA. We hope to be back soon!
Wonderful place. We almost felt at home. The house architecture and facilities are very nice. It's a shame that it rain all day long during our stay. We will definitely come back. I will recommend Cecile and her house without hesitation.
Cecille was great to work with. She was very responsive before and during the trip. Her and her husband met us for check-in and check-out. The house itself was beautiful and a great location. We spent our mornings and evenings sitting on the terrace looking out at a beautiful view. The desert lot next to the house is perfect for taking out your dogs and riding your bikes. During the day we walked into the city to visit the great restaurants, parks and churches. We thoroughly enjoyed out trip!
We stayed in the house during July and August. From the moment I saw the pictures on Airbnb I knew I wanted to stay in the house. It is modern, light-filled and airy with clean lines and no clutter. The neighborhood (which is next to a large empty field) is quiet and the house is next to a beautiful garden full of wild birds. The views of the sky and surrounding mountains are wonderful. Doing morning tai chi on the upper roof terrace as the sun was rising was great. It is a 25-minute walk to the Jardin, but it is downhill and pretty and easy. And we usually took a cab back ($35 pesos), though if you want some good exercise, the uphill walk back will do the trick. It's also a 20 minute walk across the field to the Luciernega shopping center.
The landlords live in a casita on the property and are a very nice young couple who were attentive to our needs.
The only thing I really didn't like was the low water pressure and the smell of sewer gas in the bathroom after a shower or using the sink. But the smell did not last or permeate the house. My husband didn't notice it as much as me.
The kitchen has a range and oven, blender, coffee maker and toaster. However, there are only enough dishes for 4 and minimal pots and pans. Only 4 dining room chairs. We bought a few kitchen utensils and left them. But we went out to eat a lot. So presently not a house for gourmet cooking and dinner parties, but OK for making basic meals.
But all in all we had a pleasant two months there and it was a great place to come back to after exploring SMA during the day. We also liked having a private parking space off the street and the use of the pool.
Casa Terrazas and our host Cecile were wonderful. Cecile was easy to communicate with and expediated problems quickly. WiFi was our main concern but she had it up and running by the second day of our stay. This is a very quiet neighborhood very close to the Botanical Gardens as well as a major supermarket only 10 minutes away.
We left our car parked and used taxis to go down to the town center of SMA which was perfect since parking is difficult there.
