I'm a visual artist and outsider engineer – my work is inspired by vintage technology. I'm in New York taking a course that teaches the design and repair of vintage electronic music equipment such as synthesisers, valve amplifiers and guitar effects. I'm also taking some wood and metal shop classes while I'm here too. So my stay in New York is about developing my art practice and hopefully making some new contacts. Day job is web/digital and I will be working remotely for existing clients but I'm using co-working space as I prefer not to work from home.
I'm engaged and sociable when in the company of others but enjoy time alone too where you're more likely to find me quiet and thoughtful busying myself with something practical. I play nicely with all shapes and sizes, colours and creeds and have close friends from their early twenties up to their late 40s. I fall somewhere in between. I'm laid-back but reliable, considerate of others and generally just a thoroughly reasonable self-sufficient drama-free human being who does his washing up!
As for being a house guest I was raised to be polite, considerate of the needs of others and respectful of their property. I believe the homes we live in are sacred spaces and to be a guest in one is a gift that should be cherished.
