Lived in Ocean City New Jersey for over 25 years running a guest house called The Chalet. Just learned of this site and joined. We are close to the beach and hope what I have appeals to you.
Mike and his wife were very nice and took care of our bicycles immediately so that they were safe (we had biked down to the shore). The place was simple but clean and comfortable. It was very close to the beach, so that was nice too!
We booked this place last minute and arrived very late. Nevertheless it was no problem for Mike, who is very nice, to make us our stay possible. You get a small nice room near to the beach. Shower is not in the room, but on the corridor.
Great place to spend a night, as always. Close to the beach and everything you need to have fun with kids.
I had a great time and will definitely be staying here again
My boyfriend and I were seeking to have a last minute, inexpensive weekend in OCNJ and The Chalet was exactly what we were looking for as far as accommodations. Just a quick walk to the beach and shops downtown and a clean place to sleep and shower. Restrooms really are cleaned throughout the day, I saw it happen! It seems as though constructive measures were taken to ensure the front door doesn't slam and the steps don't creak as other guests enter and exit! When taking an afternoon rest after a day at the beach, a child could be heard jumping and banging about, the owner SWIFTLY went to the guest's door and rectified the situation, and when the guest got angry, stating "This is a lot of g*d d*mn money to spend on a room with no TV!" the owner stated there was a TV in the lobby, and if they don't like it they can pack their things and leave.. This is not the place to entertain children. Tire them out at the various attractions before returning to your room. This is not the place for luxuries like complimentary soaps and "G*d D*mn TVs" in each room. but if those things don't matter to you, and walkability, quiet, and a budget are what you value, this is absolutely the place to stay!
We had a good experience staying here. The location is very nice and convenient and with a guaranteed parking spot behind their house! Very good, clean, basic room with a good sized fridge and a sink. I stayed in this room with my husband, his parents, And our 19 month daughter. my inlaws took the double bed, my husband and i cuddled on one of the single beds, and our daughter had just enough space on the floor between the two single beds. floor space is very limited here, so we liked having the empty single bed for our bags. i guess if we were staying longer we could unpack into the dresser and closet and keep the bags in the car or tucked away behind one of the beds. Bathrooms are very clean. Also, We love, love, love the spacious covered outdoor showers! Mike and anna were friendly and helpful.
Cute place! This is more of a B&B than someone's apartment but it was a great visit, nonetheless. Mike's place is just a block and a half from the boardwalk and all it has to offer. The room itself was sparse, but had everything we needed: bed, chair, dresser, minifridge, sink, and mirror. Mike also offers towels and has a convienet outdoor shower so you don't have trudge sand everywhere. The bed might be a little firm for some, but we were so exhausted after coming back from the beach that we slept like babies. Mike's also really nice and let us check out late and even checked up on us to make sure we didn't miss our bus! Great host, great room, all around great time!
Great place to stay
My husband and I decided to do a quick getaway and we had a very relaxing time at The Chalet. It's a very quiet place on a residential street and it's just a couple blocks to the boardwalk and beach. We stayed in a single room with a double bed; very bare bones but just what we needed for this stay. I would have liked to stay in the apartment but it was not available at the time. Mike was very nice and even parked our car for us when we arrived. I would recommend this place to others who are looking for a place close to the beach but are not expecting to cook or be in their rooms for an extended period of time.
We arrived on time and Mike met us at the door, showed us around, and we then headed to the third floor room. The home is a lot bigger than I thought it to be, which was a nice surprise. The beach is not even two minutes away and at $5 per day pass it's a must! Our room had a double bed, sink, dresser, and a/c which was awesome and cooled the room off in a few minutes of having turned it on. The only problem we had was the towels were a bit small, and pillows didn't offer a lot of support. We weren't able to connect to the wi-fi in the room we were in, but, i think that's because we were a bit away from the signal. It's in a great location, just a minute away from the wedding venue we were headed to. Mike is very polite and helpful. We'll be sure to stay here again soon.
