Travel. Work. Work. And more work. Despite said devotion to all the work, I love what I do and helping people during that process.

I spent 6 years in the US Navy, 1 year in Texas, and have been "back" in Michigan for over 5 years now. Working freelance between a technical industry comprised of energy, writing, consulting and training, with a side of film making as a hobby, I am pretty well rounded, and can probably cling onto any conversation you start. Very eager to learn about new people, places and perspectives.

I have been on Airbnb for over a year now, and am extremely impressed with the people and the experience. Most of my guests have been first timers to the site and it has been a great way to learn together. There is a fear that everyone discusses of staying in a stranger's home. That same fear is discussed when people ask me why I do this. It has been great!

In hindsight, the house is run like a cross between a hostel and a bed and breakfast. In travelling, we never know what we need or what the best options are and everyone is different. I have travelled by planes, trains, buses, bike and car...internationally, too. I even lost my wallet travelling alone. Regardless of any of these things, I hope to offer you a great experience in Grand Rapids during your stay.

As of now, I need to mention that my Grandfather is staying with me. It is a mixture of a divorce he is going through (with my Grandmother) and a unique set of life circumstances. I am willing to explain more, if you would like, during the booking process. He is 72 years old, and wouldn't hurt a fly if he could give them a limb to avoid it. Very generous and open and probably more honest than the average person. He is also an amputee (his leg)....which may make for some uncomfortable moments if you have never seen a stubby limb. He is fine with jokes and even considered carving a peg leg to encourage them.

I just wanted to let everyone know a little more about the house, the residents, etc...before anyone books. He moved in 15 December 2013....so all reviews pre-dating that did not encounter him. :)
