Travel. Work. Work. And more work. Despite said devotion to all the work, I love what I do and helping people during that process.
I spent 6 years in the US Navy, 1 year in Texas, and have been "back" in Michigan for over 7 years now. Working freelance between a technical industry comprised of energy, writing, consulting and training, with a side of film making as a hobby, I am pretty well rounded, and can probably cling onto any conversation you start. Very eager to learn about new people, places and perspectives.
I have been on Airbnb for over 3 years now, as well as having hosted on (website hidden) for some time, and am extremely impressed with the people and the experience. Most of my guests have been first timers to the site and it has been a great way to learn together. There is a fear that everyone discusses of staying in a stranger's home. That same fear is discussed when people ask me why I do this. It has been great!
Rocco no longer lives at the house, just me and the cats and straggling guests.
The new ordinance in the City of Grand Rapids is ONLY allowing us to legally rent 1 room to a maximum of 2 guests.
In hindsight, the house is run like a cross between a hostel and a bed and breakfast. In travelling, we never know what we need or what the best options are and everyone is different. I have travelled by planes, trains, buses, bike and car...internationally, too. I even lost my wallet travelling alone. Regardless of any of these things, I hope to offer you a great experience in Grand Rapids during your stay.
