Visiting Natalie's house was our first experience with Airbnb. We had a wonderful time, as Natalie and her partner Christopher were very welcoming and warm hosts. They were very knowledgeable about their neighborhood and city and gave us invaluable references for restaurants, activities and transportation. Their house was impeccably clean, open and comfortable. As a bonus, their English sheepdog, Léon, was delightful company. He is a friendly, sweet dog who enjoyed taking short strolls with us throughout the neighborhood.
The area that Natalie lives in, "Le Plateau," turned out to be our favorite neighborhood in Montreal. It is extremely walkable, home to a large and wonderful variety of local shops, restaurants, cafes and bookstores. They also have a plethora of the local bike share stations, Bixi, which makes short trips around the area very easy, pleasant and inexpensive. We were able to park our car (there is street cleaning certain days of the week, but no parking pass needed) and walk, bike or take the Metro wherever we needed to go during our 3 day visit.
One of the best things about having a local host is the ability to learn more about a place from them. Natalie and Christopher are both very physically active, which seems to be common among Montreal residents. Some of the activities they enjoy are rock climbing, yoga, running and hiking. They are sociable when you are in the mood, however, not to the point where you feel like you can't take some space for yourself when you need it. They love to share their knowledge of local politics, news and information, and between them they speak several languages, including English, French and Swedish.
One thing that people might worry about is that the room Natalie offers is an open mezzanine, however, she manages to create a lovely and private space. The bed is very comfortable, with clean and cozy bedding. On the mezzanine floor there is a half bath and a private terrace. You have access to the entire house if you like, including the kitchen and the full bath downstairs. We loved the openness, light and lack of clutter throughout the house.
We fell in love with the city of Montreal and, based on our experience with Natalie's family, we love Airbnb. We plan on visiting this wonderful city again sometime in the future and would not hesitate to visit again with Natalie, Christopher and Léon.
I had a wonderful stay and although I did not get to meet Nathalie she was very thoughtful and left plenty of recommendations on the neighborhood and Montreal.
The apt is lovely and very clean and super comfortable. I would definitely recommend her home.
Natalie and her partner were extremely welcoming. Their lovely home is in a GREAT location close to cafe's, bars and the highlights of the Plateau neighborhood. We felt very relaxed with Natalie and are so pleased that this worked out so well. Both Natalie and Chris were Montreal 'experts' and steered us to several experiences in Montreal that we would not have found during our time there.
Natalie and her partner Chris were fantastic hosts. Friendly, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable about the city they were everything that we could have hoped for in our first AirBnB experience. They helped us out on extremely short notice, answered all communications surrounding the booking within minutes, accommodated an early arrival, and immediately got us set up with directions to the Metro and many of the city's prime attractions so that we could get on our way.
The space itself was incredibly charming. The loft area and adjacent bathroom were tidy, the linens freshly washed, and from the terrace one could take in a stunning view of downtown Montreal while drinking a beer and unwinding from a day's adventures. Also, I dare anyone to not fall in love with their enormous English Sheepdog Leon who was there to welcome us home at any time of the day with cuddles and big puppy dog kisses.
We found the condo's location to be ideal for a younger couple looking to take in as much as possible on their first real foray into the city. Five minutes from a busy park, ten to the metro station, an easy walk to Mile End and Little Italy it was a convenient place to set up camp during our almost week long stay.
We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Indeed, the next time we find ourselves in Montreal I hope that we can.
I found Natalie's place on air bnb very last minute and she was so accommodating and very quick to respond! Her home is beautiful, clean and in a great location on the plateau. I really felt at home. She welcomed me with warm hands and heart. I would definitely recommend her!
