Chris was a great host - made everything easy for a quick weekend away. Very accommodating and the location was easy distance to the town centre!
A very nice stay at a very nice house. Chris was very friendly and accommodating, and we felt at home in the house and had a very nice room and our own bathroom. The only thing is that the room does not have a curtain. Would be much better to fit a simple curtain over the windows.
Location is good, about 25 mins walk to St Ives town center, but the walk back is probably longer as it was up the hill.
Very friendly host, comfortable room in a nice house and great location.
Chris (and is housemate, Chris) is super friendly and welcoming.
The house is beautiful - very clean lines and really quiet. There are ponies at the bottom of the garden!
It was lovely to wake up naturally with the light each morning (and the house is so peaceful, you will sleep really well).
I didn't notice any perverts on giraffes going down the lane, so lack of curtains in the bathroom is a non issue (the house is in the middle of the countryside)!
If you have luggage then it's a bit of a trek up the hill. There's a minicab company by St Ives railway/bus station, or you can take a bus towards Carbis Bay and get off a few minutes later at the 'Cornish Arms' stop.
Chris provided a cereal and toast breakfast and a very comfy bed but you will need to bring everything else - shower gel, towel, hairdryer (website hidden) Ives is great - I can recommend Blas burger bar, which is a slow food cafe and not what you might expect.
Chris also recommended a walk to Zennor which I wouldn't have known about without his recommendation. It's about eight - nine miles from his house and you can get a bus back.
He also very kindly gave me a lift to the station on the way home when it was raining, which was much appreciated.
Overall, lovely area, fab house and great host - can thoroughly recommend booking here :-).
It's been lovely to stay at Chris' place.
It is an amazing house (very clean, big and bright) in a very quite location, immerse into the nature. And Chris was really nice and careful.
The house is 15 minutes walk from the lovely St Ives harbour and city centre.
Highly recommended if you want to have a break from the city life.
Chris was a great host and made me feel at home. He went out of his way to get me "checked in" when I had arrived earlier than planned. Great house with an amazing vibe.
Just 3 niggles (which wouldn't affect my decision to stay here again if Chris would have me) : firstly as commented by others there are no curtains in the bedroom or the adjoining bathroom which is a little unnerving as both face the road; secondly, there was no lock on the bedroom door which may unsettle other guests; thirdly I found it a little hard to find as the house doesn't have a house number on it and Waze and (website hidden) Maps struggled to find the right part of the lane where the house is, but I think Chris is going to change the details to work on that.
Overall it was a great stay and I'd recommend it to all and everybody. It was also a pleasant surprise to find that Mysti, my dog, was allowed to stay with me.
Great location! We walked right down to Porthminster beach and St Ives. Chris and his roommate were very friendly! Good place to stay with all basics. Yes, no curtains in bedroom and bathroom yet like other reviews but we we didn't spend much time inside as we were out all day exploring the area. We had our own room with a Shared bathroom. We drove down to lands end and porthcurno beach which are about 30 min away so it's great spot to explore other areas of Cornwall! Thanks for having us!
Chris is a very friendly host. His house is very well done, the room quite large and the house is in a perfect location to explore St. Ives.
The room was comfortable and as described, it's located in a lovely house somewhat on the outskirts of St Ives. For future guests, you should be aware that it is somewhat of an uphill trudge from the train station (a good fifteen-twenty minute walk) and if you are carrying luggage, you might want to avail yourself of a taxi or arrange a ride with the host, Chris. Also, it is easy enough to find the street the house is located on, but hard to find the house itself as none of the houses seem to be labeled with numbers as far as I could tell. But, again, if you're in a pinch, Chris is available by mobile to help you get to his place. In his house you have your privacy, and can come and go as you please. Given the usual cost of bnbs in this area, it's a very economical way to experience St Ives and Cornwall!
Friendly and welcoming hosts. Comfortable room with bathroom next door. Location ideal for exploring st ives (15-20 mins walk away). There are restaurants and pubs closer too!Recommend taking a car there as you can explore fairly secluded beaches in the locality. Only flip side is that the room and bathroom have no curtains and is facing the road, making you feel slightly exposed. Overall would recommend a single person/ couple to use this as a base for a little get away to explore Cornwall.
