It is a good location with easy access to both the beach and city centre, and Chris is very nice and helpful. However, for a room that costs 100 pounds a night (for two people), the quality is a little disappointing. For example, the showering facility in the en-suite room was faulty. There is no mirror, no wardrobe and no curtain in the room. The only furniture in the room were a double bed and a small bedside table.
Chris was exceptionally accommodating and helpful; his home is in a quiet, wooded street not far from the coastal pathway that runs between St. Ives and Carbis Bay. The bedrooms (on the first floor) are light and comfortable (but no curtains or shades for the windows or balcony doors for those who like to sleep in) and the bathrooms are modern and well-appointed with a plentiful and immediate supply of hot water, which was most welcome after a chilly and damp trek along the coast! He also suggested a reliable taxi service which we needed as we did not have a car (it costs less than £5 into St. Ives from Chris's house). The kitchen and living room are only available until 12 noon, so make sure to plan to eat lunch and supper elsewhere. If you don't mind not having views of the sea or the coast, this is a nice quiet place to retreat to after a day of sightseeing in St. Ives.
Chris was friendly and welcomed us into his home. Me and my girlfriend booked for one person to stay by mistake. Be careful you don't do this as it costs £50 per person not per room. We felt this was very expensive to stay in someone's spare room. We compromised on paying an extra £25 with Chris, which was nice of him. Room is basic, with a bed, chest of drawers and a tv we couldn't get to work. No curtains in the bedroom meant waking up early which isn't desired when going away for a relaxed time. There was no toilet roll in the bathroom, the toilet seat was broken plus no towels. Advertised was a room with a balcony, but we didn't get this one. It's expensive for what you get, but close to the town centre
A very well located and pleasant cottage, and Chris is a very personable guy and welcoming host. A nice walk into St Ives but also not too close if you want something nice and quiet. V useful surf info from Chris if that's your thing. Lovely garden too. Great kitchen and lounge area for breakfast, however this isn't available after the morning.
The location is good, not far from the beach and city centre. It is just a little bit difficult to find. The house keeper is really nice and so does his friend. The room is lovely and quiet. I'll recommend it to my friends for sure.
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay with Chris. Very relaxed atmosphere in a lovely home overlooking horses in paddocks. 20 min walk to St Ives with loads of opportunities for photos. Relaxed and able to make my own breakfast when I got up at a leisurely hour. The linen smelt lovely.
Chris was a great host. He was very welcoming and his relaxed approach made us feel at home and free to come and go as we pleased. The modern, en-suite room was very comfortable, with a balcony and lovely views over countryside. Our own hot drinks, cereal and bread were always available in the kitchen. The house is located in a quiet country lane but is only a 20 minute walk to St. Ives or Carbis Bay. The house was a great base from which to explore the local area and further afield. We would definitely stay again!
Amazing stay, there are many art stuffs in the accommodation. I would like to recommend you to stay in Chris's house. Its really near St Ives city center, approximately 10mins to St Ives beach by car.
Chris is really friendly and helpful while the room is clean and tidy.
Awesome host, easy access to all of St. Ives, quiet, casual, like living in your own laid back place. Knows the place backwards and forwards, no problems, just down to earth. Going back for a real swell/surf when the time is right, but you don't have to be a surfer to stay here, its all good
Chis was a great guest, I would recommend him to any host.
