I am 30, love food and wine and mostly New York City. My neighborhood is awesome, you should come check it out!
The apartment is a lot cuter and cozier than the photos show! This was perfect for a five night stay with my boyfriend. The apartment is very clean and quiet. We had no trouble at all sleeping at night. The location is also perfect as it is about a five minute walk to the Delancy/Essex station. We were comfortable and felt safe even coming back in the later hours on the weekend. There is also a nice pizza shop right on Essex and Stanton and a convenience store right next to the apartment.
The floor slant isn't very noticeable. The bathtub is a step up so take caution when stepping out--it didn't really bother us. Climbing the stairs every day was also not an issue for us, but may not suit everyone. The wifi and netflix was nice to have.
I can't say enough good things about the host. Though we did not meet in person, Gavin was incredibly accommodating in every way! He was very helpful and prompt with his responses when we had questions. He was very flexible with the check in and check out times and even went out of the way to mail us the keys because our schedules didn't match up for check in! Gavin was also very generous as he offered drinks and food.
We highly recommend this apartment and the host!
Thank you so much for allowing us to stay at your wonderful apartment and for all of your help!
Gavin's place was just the best! Clean, cozy, safe, quiet and at night you see the Chrysler building shinning in the far, NYC magic :) Gavin was very accomodating in the check in and out hours, the location could not be better: close to the orange subway line which brings you pretty much everywhere, many interesting joints such as the essex market and to fellow travellers be sure to stop at Tapeo 29 (the tapas et sangria at happy hour are unbeattable). I especially appreciated Gavin's quick responses, he's a vry reliable person. I highly recommend this place.
I stayed in Gavin's apt and it was perfect for what I was looking for.... Quiet and it a good location Gavin was easy to work with and very accommodating for my needs of arrival. Apt is small and unique but if you are in NYC you won't be spending your time in an apt anyways.
My boyfriend and I stay for 6 nights in Gavin studio. We felt like home in his quiet and cozy studio. Gavin is warm and attentive towards his hosts. The studio is located in a great area, with lots of bars and places to have a good breakfast; besides, williamsburg bridge is just around the corner so it's very easy to get over to brooklyn. Definitly, an awsome place to stay in NYC. Sure we'll come back.
Gavin was a great host! My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights. Gavin was flexible on meeting times and he stayed in contact to make sure everything went well. He was great to work with the whole time. The apartment was very clean and close to the subway.
Gavin's apartment was awesome! Perfect for our stay, it was clean, quiet, and convenient. We'd be stoked to stay here again!
Gavin was a great host, his apartment is very cute and in a great spot!
Want to stay there for the future as well...
I stayed at Gavin's for 3 nights and it was a great experience! The apartment is as described, only more charming and Gavin was a brilliant host- very accommodating and incredibly helpful. The location is excellent- smack bang in the middle of uber cool LES, but quiet, secure-feeling and perfect for our needs.
I would definitely stay again and can thoroughly recommend. Great value for money and a credit to the AirBnB community!
Thank you Gavin!
Can't gush enough about our stay at Gavin's. My boyfriend and I went to NYC for a NYE trip. When hotels in Manhattan were costing us around $2,000 for the week, we were able to have Gavin's apt entirely to ourself for 1/4 of that price, which allowed us to indulge more during our trip. I will never stay in a hotel again in NYC now that I have discovered airbnb. Our shuttle was 2 hours late to get to NYC with an expected arrival of 11pm. We didn't end up getting to meet him until 1am and he was so flexible and welcoming. He stayed in constant contact until we were able to meet and was a very gracious host. We live in Montrose in Houston, TX and the Lower East Side was essentially the exact same neighborhood and was just like being at home. Very hip and fun. We ended up ditching plans in the UES and Brooklyn just to hang out at the National Underground in the LES neighborhood for NYE because it was so fun. The apt is made for a couple or a single person. It's decorated well and well-heated! Be careful of the super hot pipe in the bathroom by the toilet. My boyfriend burnt himself pretty badly on it. Otherwise, a most excellent stay.
Me and my boyfriend have been in Gavin apt for 10 days. Actually we've never met him personally because we arrived in the evening and he was working, but we were always in contact by phone and he has been very helpful and kind.
The apartment is as he describes and as you see in pictures: small and not not new, but comfortable and with all you need for a permanency in New York. The nearest subway is just 2 blocks away and there are supermarkets and laundry near.
