Our stay in the private jungle suite was a fun and unique way to lodge in Maui. It was very clean and more spacious than the pictures make it look. It is definitely off the beaten path and the view from the breakfast area is beautiful. The outdoor shower is awesome (and warm) and even with the house above you it feels private. The bed was big and very comfortable and we were never too hot at night. There are a few ants here and there and we had a couple gecko friends but for being in such a lush jungle area it really isn't overly buggy. A couple of tips I would pass on would be that if you plan on arriving at night, like we did, stop at the grocery store first! Once you make it out there in the dark you won't want to be turning around and heading back into town and because of ants and such there isn't any food that can be left out for you although we did have a lovely box of chocolate waiting for us. It's good to know that just about everything closes by 11pm so we couldn't have really made it to a 'close' store in time even if we ventured out in the dark again. I would also recommend using the directions that Alexa gives you and not relying on your GPS to find it. Print everything ahead in case you don't have service out there like we found at times. Alexa was very easy to communicate with and we found the Maui guidebook in the home very helpful. Overall it was an awesome stay and I recommend it!!
What a great place! Off the beaten path and very secluded. It was the start of our Hawaiian honeymoon and we wanted a very local kinda place. It was exactly as described! We got there easily and walked in to chocolates on our bed! A very warm welcome. It was perfect location for driving the road to Hana. Also close to Paia which proved to be a great small town to eat and drink and window shop.
I would definitely recommend this spot to anyone who wants a little something different.
Def bring a little bug spray, in the jungle there were Mosquitos, but not unbearable.
a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of tourist maui. truly a special place. my partner and i would have been happy to live there forever, but we will have to settle with coming back to stay again!
This is a cute place and the jungle setting is lovely and out of the way, exactly what we wanted. The place is clean and fairly well stocked. I agree with the previous guest that the cottage is a bit warm.. it is placed in a steep sided area and no air goes around. It is fine in the evenings with the fans on but by 11am it becomes too hot to be in. This was fine for us as we were usually out by 10am and didn't return until dinner time, when it would start to cool down. My one HUGE complaint was the bed. The mattress is sloping/ sinking in the middle and a good night's rest is impossible. By day 4 of our 5 night stay I let Alexa know it was unbearable and I sent her a picture of the mattress (the mattress is covered by a foam topper that covers the defect, sadly that defect can still be felt). Alexa assured me that they would replace the mattress, but unfortunately they couldn't do so during our visit-- they offered us their twin air mattress as a substitute. I really would have appreciated it if Alexa had been more pro active about this problem. I sent her a message on our 3rd night and though she polietly apologized she did not offer a solution. After a 4th night of uncomfortable sleep, I sent Alexa a picture of the mattress and she finally took it seriously enough to suggest a new foam topper to the mattress (unfortunately all the stores were sold out and we ended up having to sleep on the same bed for another night). Alexa has offered to return 50% of our last nights rental cost to me (i have yet to receive confirmation). So , a word of warning, if you stay here..go immediately to the bed and remove the covers, peel back the mattress pad cover, the second layer of sheet, the foam topper and look at that mattress-- if it looks wonky-- proceed to another hotel and inform Alexa immediately :)
We loved our stay. It was exactly how it was described.... quiet, isolated....we were left alone which we loved. It was charming. Directions and communication prior to the stay were excellent. Thoughtful welcome gift. Solid A!!!
I have to be honest, we were not very fond of this place unfortunately. lets' say there are pros and cons. i'm sure other people will like it more than us but it did not correspond to the remoted seculed place I was looking for.
things started with some communication issues.
we asked if we could drop off our luggage a bit early in the afternoon since check in was at 3pm. Alexa said she would ask the person who was cleaning the place (since 10am - checkout time) if it was possible. but no reply after that.
we showed up at 2.40pm and the place was not ready and we had to wait outside until exactely 3pm. I only could get the directions via email 1 hour before our arrival as well.
the place looks smaller in reality, than on the picture but it is perfectly clean, brand new and very well equiped with every thing you may need, no problem at all about that. and it's very quiet at night. the guide book on Maui was very useful as I only had a big lonely planet on Hawaii.
but because the studio cabin is in the backyard of a house and it is a bit deep / steep-sided, no air goes around and it gets very hot even with the fans on.
you are definitely surounded by nature and beautiful plants but you are still very close to a house and neibourghs.
I wish the Lanai was covered with something for the shade (and rain).
The kind of guest we love to have, respectful, tidy, and offered great communication. You are welcome back anytime and we were delighted you chose us for your first real get-away in many years!
