From Germany, Heidelberg/Berlin
I stayed at Egon's place with 7 of my friends for 1 week. The loft is perfect for large groups, and the location is excellent. Egon was very well organised, he sent us all the necessary information before our arrival. We haven't met Egon as he was out of town, but Alice was there; she was very nice and helpful. I would stay there again anytime.
A great space in the best part of Manhattan (if you like a bit more authenticity, with great little shops, bars, restaurants in a youthful/artistic 'hood). Egon wasn't in town but Alice sorted us out with our rooms, and the other people staying at the loft were quite nice/cool. I would and hope to stay here again. I wish I owned a loft like this!
5 of us (2 couples and 1 single) came to run the marathon which unfortunately got cancelled. The whole circumstances around arrival and departure were unfortunate too, with Sandy making transportation and shaving real challenges, while Athena made sure return flights would be messed up with too. Egon's flat was otherwise welcoming, featuring large volumes and being relatively quiet (thanks to Sandy - this time). The location in Chinatown, South from Alphabet City and East from Soho is excellent, with two key subway line stations located less than 5 minutes by foot.
Trying to be as objective as possible despite abnormal circumstances, we felt that the value wasn't on par with money (approx. $200 per room per night inclusive of all airbnb costs and fees) - mind you we had no other prior experience with renting flats in NYC at this time of the year. Must be said that the flat's pictures were somewhat misleading, with new walls in place filtering the light and a lot of frames and other art materials taking space away. We were also told we'd have the flat on our own and finally shared it with other people throughout the rental period.
Egon, the owner (absent during the rental period) and his occasional tenants (Johanna, Pierre and Thierry) were however very friendly in their communication or in person.
Not much to say, everything perfect!. I didn't met Noge but he had arranged everything. Lower East Side it's a great area and the room offers everything expected.
Great space and excellent location. Egon was most helpful and even included a map for local places to source the best food, beverages and other hot spots. The stairs up to the loft will keep you fit :)
Response from Noge:
So, yes, of course, I would recommend everybody to go there.
Egon was away when I was there, but there was a very nice couple staying there in charge of the house. Great amazing, space, excellent location. Clean. And a cool crowd of people staying there. could not ask for more and the stay was indeed perfect. And even though Egon was a away, he was very good with the communication before, during and after my stay to make sure I had a good stay. Tumbs up for this space.
Lovely apartment - more space than i've ever encountered in NYC! Wish i could have stayed longer...
The loft is in an excellent location and feels like an oasis in the busy city. The living room area and kitchen are tidy, and the rooms all have high ceilings, which adds to the sense of spaciousness. Egon is a fantastic host -- helpful and organized. He has made this place a real find for those who appreciate unconventional (and clean and aesthetically pleasing!) housing.
Egon was a wonderful host. I stayed in the large room for three nights while I was in town for a conference. The location is very convenient, incredibly easy for an out of towner to catch a cab or walk to nearby districts for sightseeing or to grab a bite to eat.
The house was very well kept and extremely cute - loved the artistic touches all around the place and was even inspired by his stone bath tub - must have one for my own home.
Perfect place to stay, relax, and enjoy what New York has to offer. Thank you so much for hosting me - I'll definitely be booking here in the future.
