I stayed at Arlen and Tara's flat the second week of December. The flat is amazing - literally next door to Lorimer Street station, a super short L train ride to Manhattan away. Next to an organic supermarket (pricey though, so if you're looking for a cheaper option there's Key Foods or Associated Supermarket nearby too), a really good restaurant (DuMont) and a 24h diner (Kellogg's). The flat is very clean, and considering the location very quiet, even on the weekends (there's a white noise thingy in the bedroom but I didn't need it, I slept like a baby all week). I met Arlen on my first day, he was very friendly and accommodating. The flat was very warm despite the cold temperatures outside. Overall, a fantastic experience!
Arlen and Tara's place is great. The location with the L/G trains right outside your door makes it extremely convenient, plus you got Williamsburg and all the hip stuff a few blocks away.
Only downside is that it's a bit noisy, but that's mainly in the weekends and even then it's not crazy. The kitchenette isn't really built for anything other than heating stuff, but with all kinds of stuff right out the door, you won't go hungry.
We loved our stay at Arlan and Tara! The place is nice decorated. The bed is superb. It's really clean. Arlan is a very warm man and completely laid-back: everything is possible.
The neighborhood is filled up with nice restaurants, shops and lovely places. The sub is just around the corner, so Manhattan is at your doorstep. We enjoyed it so much that we could be temporarily citizens of Williamsburg!
The apartment is located right at Lorimer Station which is a great starting point for exploring Brooklyn and Manhattan. We didn't have any problem with noise even though we were there over the weekend and slept perfectly in the comfy bed. Just the couch where our third party slept was not that comfortable. The decoration of the apartment is really cute - I wished I could have taken some of the furniture :-)
I stayed here with a friend in September 2013. Arlen was very helpful, flexible and responsive to my requests. The apartment is beautiful, spacious and very comfortable. Very close to the L-train and in a great part of Williamsburg. I highly recommend staying at this apartment.
Well, what a fantastic apartment! It's so convenient, the subway is 30 seconds from the flat and is only three stops into manhattan. It's really cosy and has everything you need, yea I agree with the others that the kitchen isn't great but it's so cheap to eat out. The shower is really powerful, and Arlen and Tara were perfect hosts, really flexible too thanks guys. We spent a lot of time in Williamsburg and felt right at home, we could live there! We would recommend this place in a heart beat and stay there again.
Great location, good amenities, awesome bed! This appartment was really our little home while we discovered the greatest city of all times. We <3 NY!
Tara and Arlen's place was amazing. It was super close to the L train, and it was easy to get around from their. They also provided a map which was super helpful in getting around. Their apartment was also comfortable, and we found parking very easy. I would definitely stay here again.
The location in central Williamsburg and the neighborhood are irreproachable. Everything is close by : subway, stores, restaurants, bars.
The apartment is spacious enough for one or two persons. It is very clean and cozy.
It's on the groundfloor but the streetnoise isn't bothering.
The apartment isn't inhabited so one has a lot of space for their belongings.
The only negative point is the absence of a working kitchen and a sink. So even though dishes are provided one cannot wash them or prepare any real meal.
Very good value for your money. Can only recommend it.
We stayed at Arlen and Tara's for a week, and we felt very much at home.
The absolute best thing about this apartment is the LOCATION! A short walk from the nicest streets, and about 100 meters from the subway, 2 stops from Manhattan.
We were three persons staying, which also worked out fine, there is a bed in one room, and a fold-out couch in the other.
The only drawback is that the kitchen isn't that well equipped. But when in NYC I guess you should try eating out as much as possible anyways, so that doesn't matter too much..
Arlen and Tara were really helplful, and had lots of tips on where to go and what to eat in the city. All in all we had a great time! Thanks!
We could not have hoped for a more considerate, easy going, enthousiastic and polite person that Tara. It was a real pleasure hosting her and we really wish to see her again soon. Highly recommended!
