I'm Giorgio, I'm 65 years old. Retired engineer, now in love with olive trees in Tuscany.
From the time we found our way to Uliveto, after following the excellent directions given to us by Giorgio, we fell in love with the house, the hosts, the area, the view....actually, everything. The views were amazing...incredible. Giorgio, who has excellent English, is a wealth of knowledge and couldn't help us enough. From the amazing villa, Pistoria is well worth a visit. We caught the train to Florence easily and was a wonderful day trip but coming back to Uliveto was just bliss. We just loved, loved, loved our stay, and after travelling for over 8 months was a perfect place to share with our friends. Excellent, excellent, excellent.
We totally agree with all the positive things already said about the property and the charming Giorgio and Cristina!
My wife and I stayed at Uliveto in September 2013. We stayed in 1 bedroom 2 story apartment. This was a very exceptional place; newly renovated, beautiful, peaceful, with gorgeous view over the hills and town of Pistoia in far background; and if you like driving on winding mountain roads that take you up to Uliveto elevation, you will like this place even more. Although Cristina was not there at the time of our stay, Giorgio has proven himself as a wonderful host, always willing to help and provide valuable information on local attractions and places to visit. Giorgio also speaks excellent English which makes all the difference in the world for those who speak little Italian. Uliveto is a great little retreat in the hills that is one of a kind, especially with its wonderful hosts who provide excellent service for their guests. If you are looking for a nice quiet place with your own full kitchen where you can cook your own meals (Yes we all need a break from restaurants from time to time) than this is a place for you. We will definitely be returning back to Uliveto on our next Tuscany region trip. Giorgio was also kind enough to show us his other two larger apartments as they were not occupied at the time: 4 and 6 person units, and we were astonished by how beautiful they were, biggest having its own fully restored operational pizza oven the kind that you build the fire within - Amazing!! Also all furniture in all of 3 apartments are solid wood pieces some are real antiques fully restored to make Uliveto even more enjoyable to its guests. All 3 apartments are extremely well decorated but not overdone, simple yet tasteful. We highly recommend this place to anyone with a car as it is located just north of Pistoia which is central to many tourist destinations. Giorgio THANK YOU AGAIN !
Our time staying with Giorgio and Cristina was wonderful. They were extremely accommodating and hospitable. Giorgio had gone out of his way to provide maps, business cards, recommendations of places to see and eat, ad even a reservation at a local restaurant.
The apartment was adorable in a beautiful setting overlooking the city of Pistoia. This was by far our favorite place we stayed during our 3 week honeymoon. I can not recommend staying with Giorgio and Cristina enough. We hope to return again.
It was incredible!!!! Giorgio and Cristina were just as lovely as their property is. Everything was so easy and they were always available for anything when needed. We were able to purchase their homemade olive oil, walk to the nearby villages, and just sit and relax enjoying the beautiful views. It is a perfect location in N Tuscany, right in the middle of historic mountainside villages just above a non touristy town of Pistoia. This is an ideal area as it is about 30-45mins by car or train to both Pisa and Florence. This was the best of all worlds.
Grazie Giorgio and Cristina!!!! We will never forget this experience for the rest of our lives.
We really enjoyed our stay with Giorgio and Christina, they were very helpful in getting there and made us very welcome. The apartment was very clean, tastyfully renovated and well equipped set in a beautiful location, we would certainly go back and recommend it.
When we meet our hosts, we are welcomed and shown around in “our apartment”. It was like getting into a really well thought out new renovated Tuscan apartment, with a Tuscan-inspired country kitchen, modern spotless bathrooms, where style is mixed with the old. The bedrooms are well-appointed, all in all, the apartment is built and furnished with soul.
The location in the olive grove with views of Pistoia to one side and mountains on the other side, the church bell from the 1000 year old church, do ULIVETO opportunity for something very special that can be linked with peace and nature.
Here in ULIVETO we enjoyed our holiday, we had an hour to Lucca, an hour to Florence (via train) an hour to Leonardo da Vinci's' museum, and one hour to Abetone, up to breathtaking views and the cool air.
Our guess is that the hosts have a motto that says, we have seen most of the world, now the world must come to us.
The hosts have accepted us with open arms and they have been very open to guide and inspire our stay. We had questions about food, wine and cultural aspects, our hosts have daily been there for us.
Thank you for a wonderful week. "Can we stay one more day?"
Our stay was the perfect Tuscan experience. Situated on the hill overlooking Pistoia, the view is amazing. Giorgio and Cristina were very helpful hosts. Always available if we needed anything at all. They showed us all the features of the apartment including the kitchen, bedrooms, and extra linen, towels etc. Giorgio even gave us maps with recommendations of the shops and restaurants in Pistoia that the locals use. And also a highlighted map of local walks and scenic drives. We really enjoyed getting to know them.
The apartment itself is amazing. We could happily live there. Furnished with antiques and beautifully decorated, fresh flowers both in the kitchen and bedroom, we really got a sense of Tuscany. We would have happily stayed in the kitchen all week, we did not want for anything - the kitchen is fully equipped to cook to your hearts content. We cooked with amazing fresh tuscan food. Giorgio and Cristina's olive oil from the olive grove outside was a special bonus. Beds are very comfortable and shower perfect. It was our home away from home after long days of sightseeing.
This is a nice little apartment in a lovely spot. It is newly renovated to a high standard using old fixtures and large wooden beams. Great.
But what really made this place was the hosts. They were fantastic. Such beautiful people. THANK YOU
Giorgio and Cristina are wonderful hosts, always ready to satisfy any needs and to have a chat in their terrace. Their house is in a very beautiful spot, with a great view on the woods, where you can see roes and deers. Podere Uliveto is in a strategic position, close to the main cities of Tuscany. It's great coming home, after a day around, and enjoy the cool climate, also in the hottest days of summer. The apartments have been recently renovated and they are beautifully furnished
Podere Uliveto is an amazing experience: the Tuscany landscape, the beautiful houses and the kindness of Giorgio make our vacation really relaxing and comfortable. Furthemore, the city centre of Pistoia is very close and it's possibile to enjoy great food.
I highly recommend Uliveto.
