Gioia Guerzoni lives in Milan and has been translating fiction, mainly from English into Italian, for the past twenty years. She has worked on American and British authors – Ben Marcus, Teju Cole, Jonathan Lethem, Siri Hustvedt, Paula Fox, Colm Tóibín - as well as on several Indian writers - Lavanya Sankaran, Altaf Tyrewala, Tishani Doshi, Kiran Nagarkar, Amruta Patil and many others. The latter she has grown to know and appreciate through her extensive travels in the subcontinent, always with her laptop. She occasionally writes about Indian literature and related subjects for Italian and Indian magazines.
In 2008 she edited and translated an anthology of fiction, non-fiction and graphic short stories by new Indian writers (Tishani Doshi, Annie Zaidi, Palash K. Mehrotra, Sarnath Banerjee and many others) for ISBN publisher (website hidden). The anthology has been published in 2009 in India by Delhi based Westland Books Ltd (website hidden)_details.php?cat_id=4&book_id=95.
She is currently focusing on other projects involving Indian literature in English and started working as a consultant for South East Asia on behalf of the Italian publishing house Il Saggiatore.
