Our stay at Cerca del playa was excellent. The room is all you need to enjoy Sayulita, and is in a convenient location right near the town plaza. Rodrigo and his crew were super nice and accommodating. Room was clean, and tasteful. Vibrant street.
This was a brilliant apartment in Sayulita. We stayed for 11 nights and absolutely loved our time here - wish we could have stayed more. We were so delighted with the apartment because it was right in the centre of town which meant we could easily walk to all the cool shops in town for all our daily needs, and only a few minutes stroll to the beach. We stayed in the apartment facing the road, which we think was probably the biggest and best of the 3... although the other 2 certainly look great as well.
The room has a fan and A/C which keeps the room at a good temperature and has the added benefit of cancelling out occasional noise from the street (which isn't actually that noisy anyway).
The room had a nice couch plus a sofa area by a window which was great for relaxing in.
The bed was very comfortable, and the room surprisingly spacious.
The rooms are cleaned every 2nd day which is great. The kitchen is basic, but good enough that we cooked there one night, and had breakfast most days.
The outdoor area is shared with the 3 other rooms. Most of the time you'd rather be at the beach anyway, but it's nice to sit outside there occasionally.
Rodrigo made us feel welcome when we arrived. We were directly above the best ice cream shop in town (Wakika), and undoubtedly the best restaurant in town too! (La Rustica). We were actually addicted to the pizzas at La Rustica restaurant and ate there about 6 nights.
We explored the whole of sayulita beach which is perfect for swimming in. We also found two different beaches about 40 min walk north and south of sayulita which were deserted (but very wild and probably too dangerous for swimming).
By the end of our stay Semanta Sana was building - the national Easter holiday for Mexico - and so Sayulita was absolutely overflowing with people... we were actually relieved to escape before it got too hectic.
Thanks Rodrigo for having us - we'll be recommending this place to all our friends!
The location of Rodrigo's spot could not be more central...and the deck is perfect for lounging in the afternoon, post-beach and in the evening, post-mezcal :) The room (we had Oceano, the middle room) was spotless, well appointed and we had no issues whatsoever with the hot water or the wonderful a/c. His restaurant downstairs, Rustica, has some of the best pizza we've had (& that includes NYC, SF, Italy...) and his family's ice cream shop, Wakika, is some of the best in town. I recommend staying with Rodrigo, especially if you like to be within walking distance of everything. Only downside, was the nighttime/early morning outside noise...but we also were there for the beginning of Semana Santa (Holy Week) which gets very crowded. I can imagine other times of the year it's fine.
My friend and I stayed at oceana for two nights and it was perfect! It was clean and decorated beautifully. The location is ideal for walking around in the town and only a block to the beach! Not to mention the heladeria downstairs has hand made beautifully flavored ice creams. Any time I am back in this region I will definitely stay at this apartment.
Thank you Rodrigo!
We had such a great time in Sayulita. Staying right in the heart of the village was amazing; we were so close to the action, however Rodrigo's apartments felt removed and private. The casita was perfect for my boyfriend and I to relax and cook in. The kitchenette was well stocked and the apartment was clean. The deck shared between the three units was super spacious and a great place to people watch from. The Wakika Ice Cream stand downstairs was super delicious.
I would recommend staying here and would definitely stay here again. The town bustles a bit until about 9pm but most nights is quiet after that. It's very central and yet is still very private.
Rodrigo and his family were very welcoming and hospitable. These rooms are in an excellent location 2 blocks to the beach, a short half block to the town square, and about a 7 minute walk from where the bus from Puerto Vallarta drops off passengers.
We stayed in the Oceano room, which is the middle of three rooms. Although it is the smallest room of the three we found the size very comfortable for 2 people, especially considering the access to shared outdoor patio. Rooms were cleaned every other day. Check-in was around 2pm - we got there early and were able to leave our things while we explored.
Rodrigo and family also operate the two businesses downstairs so we always saw them around. I'm sure guests would have no problem reaching out to someone if they needed anything. (FYI - Wakika, the ice cream shop, and La Rustica, the pizza place, are quite good!)
In the evenings we could hear music from nearby restaurants but this did not bother us as things usually quieted down by 11pm.
Un excelente spot en sayulita, muy céntrico, cómodo y limpio.
Tal cual como aparece en las fotografías.
The place is fantastic, we loved it!!
El departamento está muy lindo, muy limpio y la ubicación es perfecta, caminando está la playa.
Sin duda, si regreso a Sayulita me quedaría en esa habitación. Lo recomiendo ampliamente.
Rodrigo was a great host. He gave us all the information we needed and the space was exactly as advertised. Clean, spacious and quiet. The outdoor area was a great perk and it was perfect to be in the heart of Sayulita, only a few minutes from the beach. Thanks Rodrigo!
