First time ever in NYC and loved it BIG TIME!!!!!
Carole's place is fantastic as is Carole.
Communication before, during and after my stay with Carole was superb. Carole was very responsive, helpful and easygoing. She was not in NYC during my stay but that was a non issue due the the good communication and the lovely cleaning lady who was there for my check in.
The apartment is very spaciuos, clean, full of character. Although old, everything worked easily Great fast wi fi, fully equiped kitchen etc.
The gym in the basement was surprisingly really good and most of the time empty, beautyful roof terrace with some NYC skyline views. The apartment block is very secure.
Location was superb as well, absolutely LOVED the east village, a down to earth, buzzing, multicultural and very friendly part of town. Lots of cafes, bars and eateries. Very close to LES (loved Orchard street) and 5 minutes walk from the subway. I wouls definetly stay at Carole's apartment again.
Carole's home is really well located - East village is a nice area and a great place to start your tour through nyc each day.
We didn't meet with Carole, but she was very organized and it was easy to contact her for questions and needs.
Generally it's important to know that staying at Carole's means staying in a real home with all her belongings and ways to live in her apartment. It's not a bad thing, it's just a special situation. For me and my parents this was a bit to present at all time, although Carole put most of her clothes and belongings in the bathroom away.
Personally I figured out for myself that I rather prefer to stay at places that are mainly meant to be rented out.
Carole is an excellent hostess. The apartment is clean and spacious and the full kitchen helped a lot on our economy trip. The building is secure and the location superb. The market 24h in the corner is also a big difference. The apartment is 4 blocks from the subway and also 5 blocks from Broadway. The Wi-fi is fast and really works! I recommend this place to all who want comfort, good price, good location and security. I felt at home during the 8 days I was in NY.
A wonderful, warm and helpful host, and the perfect apartment. Homely, and just enough bohemian trappings in my favourite neighborhood in NYC. Apart from all that, it was perfect! Thankyou dear Carole.
Response from Carole:
Thank you, dear Tim - do you mean homely or homey?? xox
Carole was a perfect host. We could even check out later! The apartment is very nice and the location is very convenient: the neighborhood is pleasant and there is a subway stop close by. We would stay there again.
Great place in a great location. You can walk anywhere and staying here gave me a whole new appreciation of the Lower East Side (I grew up in this area!) The apartment was spacious and met all our needs. The host was "the hostess with the mostest"!!! So glad we stayed here!!!
The apartment was really nice and comfy. Perfect location for what we were doing. Carol was very communicative and had lots of info for those unfamiliar with the city or the East Village. I would definitely stay there again!
to our point of view,, this is the best way to expirience the city.
carole's place was everything we'v hoped it would be.
the location is abseloutly great! in a very nice and cool area, the east village. its close to everything you need and very alive at night. and it feels very safe too.
the apartment itself is designed with unique and vintage furnitures and its very cozy and wellecoming.
carole was a great host and was available to every need we had.
by the way, the rooftop is amazing!
we'll definitely stay there again!
I had a fantastic time staying at Carole's place! The location in the heart of the East Village is brimming with excitement and, as a former resident of New York City, I would say that the neighborhood is one of the best places for people-watching. There are lots of great restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, and bars in the area, as well as a small park. The lower east side, Greenwich Village, and Union Square are within easy walking distance, and the apartment is near many different subway lines and bus routes for easy transportation to other parts of the city.
As for the apartment bulding, it is in a grand art deco structure dating back to the 1920s or 30s, and the apartment itself is a large one-bedroom (very spacious for New York City standards) and feels homey and comfortable. It is decorated in a tastefully bohemian style and there are many amenities. Pianists will love that the apartment features both a baby grand piano and a high-quality electric Yamaha.
Carole was an extremely good host. She provided all of the information that I would need to know before I even got there, was attentive and checked in regularly during my stay, and was very helpful via email. It was my first time using Airbnb, and she made it a great first impression!
