I am a lawyer working primarily in international business transactions and renewable energy. My international work is primarily in Mexico. I am with a national US law firm. My wife Suzanne Cahill is a professor of Chinese Studies at the University of California, San Diego. She is a Tang Dynasty specialist and has written on Taoism, Women in China and Chinese material culture. She is spending more time now with Chinese archeology. We have one son, Sean, who is lives in the financial district in Manhattan and works for an international bank.
We all love to travel. For many years, we took our big vacation of the year over the Christmas holiday. We have spent Christmas vacations in Rome, Paris and New York City. For Christmas 2012, we spent the holiday in Madrid. When we go on these Christmas vacations, we like to rent an apartment for a couple weeks and really explore where we are, including some day trips. We enjoy visiting museums, churches and historical places.
Apart from these Christmas trips, I travel a fair amount on business in Mexico. Suzanne travels about once a year to China. We try to go together on these trips when we can.
We are lovers of art and history. Whenever we travel, we spend lots of time in the art museums. I like to read about the history of a place while I am staying there.
