Alejandro is awesome and his loft is absolutely incredible. It's gorgeous and perfectly situated. We really enjoyed our time in Montreal and appreciate how kind/helpful/welcoming Alejandro was.
Booking was cancelled by host only 24 hours before my departure.
Alejandro's loft is as beautiful as it is in his pictures. The decor is unusual and interesting while remaining also very comfortable and inviting. The space is wonderfully open but also private enough for larger groups.
And Alejandro himself is a delightful host. My traveling companion and I were running over an hour late on our travel day, but Alejandro remained exceedingly patient with us. When we did finally arrive, he took the time and care to direct us to points of interest, including the outstanding cuisine within the neighborhood.
The walls of the loft, as is the case with most living situations like this one, are quite thin, so if the neighbors decide to dance into the night, the evening can quickly get uncomfortable. Of course, this sort of variable exists in nearly all apartment living.
That said, I enjoyed this cool fun loft and look forward to another visit in the near future.
Alejandro's space was great for my group of 3 (1 couple and 1 friend). His loft was clean and very spacious. The beds are lofted on opposite ends of the apartment which gives each space a feeling of privacy even though they are technically in the same room. Alejandro has a nice sound system which was a plus for us since like to have music on before heading out for the night. The location is in an up and coming area which made us feel like we were part of the city instead of just visiting. The building has a very good, popular italian restaurant attached to it (there was a second restaurant being built as well) which was also a plus for us since we needed a place to have a birthday dinner. Alejandro also left us the phone number to a local corner store and a taxi driver. We did not have working phones so we were not able to use the numbers but its the thought that counts!
The only negative was Alejandro's neighbor played very loud music until about 7am one night / morning. This was not an issue for my group but the walls between spaces are thin so I could see it being in issue for some guests with kids.
Overall, I was very satisfied with Alejandro's place and will definitely inquire if his space is available the next time I plan a trip to Montreal.
Upon arriving at Alejandro's we were a bit concerned as the area appeared a bit run down. But our worries quickly evaporated when we entered the apartment. The loft was spacious and artistic with two mezzanines and massive windows. We loved the bathroom with coloured led lighting in the shower. The beds were comfy and because it was only two of us, we tested both "bedrooms". One was bright and airy near windows the other, near the back of the flat, was smaller, cosier and darker, hence catering for both morning or evening people.
The location is great for exploring the west part of the city. Only one block to the canal, where you can cycle, walk or rent a kayak. It's also close to Atwater market which is a foodie's paradise! And it's in the same block as the Salvation Army thrift shop warehouse. Great bargains on vintage and designers clothes. Lots of great restaurants close by at well.
As some of the previous reviews mentioned, it is a building full of artists, musicians and alternative people, so there were plenty of parties. We came to Montreal to party so it suited us well. The neighbours were very friendly and invited us to join their party upstairs, which was super fun!
You can't smoke in the apartment, but there's a rooftop terrace in the building with a wicked view of the city skyline.
But be aware, lofts in general have very little sound insulation. This apartment is no exception. So we could hear people walking upstairs and muffled talking. It's part of the art loft experience. If you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs.
Overall, we were delighted to stay at Alejandro's loft. I'd recommend it for an unique Montreal experience!
Coooollll
See u soon Montréal ;)
Alejandro was a very nice host. He was quite flexible with the time, because we had a big traffic problem and he was very cooperative. We had a great time! Thanks for everything. Your loft is awesome.
Alejandro is beyond amazing!!! His loft was beautiful, clean, and comfortable. From the second we arrived Alejandro made us feel at home and showed us everything Montreal has to offer. I highly recommend Alejandro if you want a wonderful experience in Montreal. Alejandro is the best :)
Alex was an excellent host. The day I arrived, he showed me around the entire neighborhood and made sure that I was well settled. He is extremely kind and accommodating. Alex continued to check in and make sure everything was cool for the first few days of my stay.
The loft itself was super cool. I stayed with a friend of mine and we had ample space to spread out and live for the month we were there. The only downside was the A/C, which didn't work so well. It wasn't really an issue until the end of our stay, where it was getting really hot out.
I absolutely adored Griffintown and loved staying in the neighborhood. It is super trendy and a fun place to hang out. Transportation was a bit difficult, as the loft is quite a ways from the nearest Metro, but I was traveling all over the city for work while I was there. If you aren't running such a tight schedule, you won't mind the easy walk to the Metro or bike ride into the city proper. It was also quite a distance to get groceries, but again, if you aren't on a time crunch, the walk or bike ride is not so bad. I loved visiting Atwater Market and exploring the many restaurants in the area!
Wow! We had just the most incredible time staying at this loft. Everything about this place spoke art, and creativity. It felt like we walked into a move-set loft.....original hardwood floors...bare brick walls...Open concept ceilings covered with bare pipes....eclectic-style furniture inspired a vintage - modern mood. We loved the spacious and comfortable feel of the place that allowed 6 adults to have privacy while living in one common space. The 2nd floor open - concept bedrooms are cozy and inviting. Enjoy a freshly brewed espresso and a steamy shower in the morning while listening to surround sound music of your choice (we streamed it via our ipad). Bonus: Alex has various mood light installments throughout the loft which give the space an extremely cozy and loungy feel. Also- there is free parking on the street which is wonderful if you are driving. Alex provided us with cab numbers and local attractions. This is so much nicer than a hotel- you can even make your own food (if you have specific dietary needs)- while enjoying the bright light coming through the floor - to - ceiling giant windows. The temperature is regulated by an installed AC which provides fresh cool air on warm days. In short this turned out to be a much better accomodation experienxe than we could have even imagined!! We are looking forward to coming back again :)
Was really nice to meet Alejandro and his Friend, they are very nice people, clean and respectful, they are very welcome to come back to barcelona and stay here again anytime. Recomended Guest!
