Lorna and Paddy are the best! We arrived in Dublin with no concrete plans, and Lorna helped us make the decisions on what we should do and see. She had a bunch of fliers and maps for us to use. They made us feel right at home and even left us an anniversary gift of champagne.
They have an absolutely stunning home with a unique eye for design, and looks like it came straight out of a magazine. Roxy the dog was a delight and Tiger the cat was a sweetie. The accommodations were very comfortable and our hosts made sure that we were always warm enough. Their home is around 200 years old. I'm pleased to report that we had zero ghostly encounters while we were there!
Their home is conveniently located within walking distance to the city and anything you need. On average, to get to a pub, we walked 15 minutes. There are a variety of take-away places within 5-10 minutes walk. To cross the river Liffey to get to the Trinity College side, it took about 20 minutes. Shopping, 15 minutes walk. We walked the entire time we were there, and it was very easy to do. But if you need public transportation, there's a bus stop at the end of their street. We managed navigating the city by foot using a map app our smart phone to guide us to everything we saw.
We felt like family while we were there. And our trip was made extra special by these amazing people. Ireland is famous for its hospitality, and they were the embodiment of this notion. We met as strangers and parted as friends. We are so lucky that we chose Lorna and Paddy as our hosts. We struck Irish Gold!
A great place for a great value! Lorna and Paddy were wonderful hosts and made my stay in Dublin much easier than if I had stayed in a hotel. Will stay here again if it's an option.
No one could ask for better hosts than Lorna, Paddy, Tiger the cat, and Roxy the dog. Thanks Lorna for all the detailed and friendly technical help. Thanks Paddy for your friendly help and wit.
The home is charming. Our room was ample and attractive. The kitchen was very useful. The living room was quite comfortable. We used it to watch the All Ireland football championship after a few minutes of fumbling with the controls, solved by turning on a wall switch. Lorna provided a most helpful booklet of information and tips, like "use these busses to get to the right stops to get to City Centre and back home." She also gave a link to her personal interactive app for Dublin. We were not wifi when on the street, but the app was still greatly helpful. If anyone is wifi on the street, this would be even more useful. She also tipped us in her booklet and personally to two wonderful day trips, both reachable on lengthy but pleasant municipal bus routes, Malahyde and Howth. When we were leaving early in the morning for the airport, and somewhat concerned about getting a timely taxi during rush hour, Lorna arranged a taxi for us online.
If you want to stay over a noisy street in Temple Bar, this home is not for you. If you want a quiet place, very close to several main north - south bus routes, you can't go wrong at Lorna and Paddy's.
Two notes to the traveler: If you are arriving by taxi or by a municipal bus, make sure you mention North Strand when asking for Bayview. And on a bus, if you are talking to the driver, mention that the stop you want is across the street from Cusack's Pub.
Wonderful stay with Lorna & Paddy in comfortable room close enuf to walk into Dublin to see the sights with great recommendations for places to go and eat which Lorna sent on line before arrival. I highly recommend staying with them! Nice kick off to my European vacation.
I had a lovely stay at Lorna and Paddy's! Their home is warm and cozy. Lorna greeted me with tea, advised me about Dublin, and caught me up on national hurling events. Lorna and Paddy are super welcoming, as is their precious dog Roxy. I would recommend them / their home wholeheartedly!
Quaint and cosy as advertised and hosted by the most helpful and charming people. Clean, well-kept, and truly charming, it's where I'll stay when I return for vacation.
Was there on business and looking for an authentic experience which they provided. Lorna took me on a customized tour of the town touching all my high points. They could not have been more accommodating.
Thank you Lorna and Paddy!
We had a brief, 2-day, but wonderful stay at Lorna & Paddy's in Dublin. They are wonderful hosts, prepared with lots of tips & recommendations for you. It's only a 10-min bus ride into the center of town, and much quieter than the bustle of the center. Would definitely recommend!
I had a lovely stay at Lorna & Paddy's. I felt at home right away. Lorna was an absolute delight and made me feel welcome immediately. We actually ended up grabbing a bite in town that evening, and it felt like having dinner with an old friend! Lorna & Paddy's place is not directly in the downtown core, but that's a bonus, if you ask me. There's a bus stop just a few minute walk away that takes you downtown in about ten minutes, so access is easy. The bedroom is cozy and comfortable, right next to the kitchen on the lower level, with a small window and door leading out to their lovely backyard. The bathroom is separate, just down the hall by a few steps, but it feels completely private, and I was the only one who used it. One small thing to note is that you need to let Lorna & Paddy know what time you will want hot water for the shower so they can turn it on, but this is not uncommon, apparently, in Ireland! In other B&B's I stayed in throughout my trip, you also had to turn the hot water on, but there was a chord to pull for that in some places. So, at Lorna & Paddy's you just let them know what time and it's all good! All in all, I found their place warm, comfortable, and just what I needed for my two night stay, and the best part of all was Lorna's help and hospitality. She has put together extensive maps and information to guide you on your Dublin adventure, as well!
Had a wonderful stay in this cozy, adorable and impeccably decorated home. The pizza spot down the street was divine. My stay was short so I did not go into the city center but I gathered that it was not a quick walk to the center. Would highly recommend Lorna and Paddy's lovely home for a comfortable stay with very kind hosts!
We stayed at Lorna and Paddy's place for 5 days. We had a great stay with our very friendly and helpful hosts. Tthe house and the room are just as in the picture, clean and cosy in a quiet neighbourhood. A bottle of wine was waiting for us upon our late arrival, Paddy showed us around and was helpful with all requests/questions. Unfortunately we did not get enough time to chat with Lorna or Paddy, but they were still always attentive to our needs. One thing that helped us a lot was Lorna's little interactive google map with tons of insider tips. Don't miss breakfast at Kennedy's Food Store and stop at Cusacks Pub for a pint of Guiness. All in all we definitely can recommend a stay at Lorna & Paddy's. Thanks :)
Lorna and her friend stayed in our place for three days, the were really good guests and really interested about activities that San Sebastian and his surrondings offer, they even went to hendaye (France) to spent the day.
It was very nice to host them in our place and try to help them.
I've known Lorna and Paddy since 2001, they're one of the warmest and most fun couples you could meet. They're both well travelled having been all over the globe and both very proud of their Dublin home. You won't be short of a tip or two should you need inspiration.
Their little cottage is deceptively spacious with two large reception rooms filled with books and films and a homely country style kitchen where I've wiled away hours chatting and sipping tea. There's a tranquil garden accessed via the bedroom which has the most comfy bed. It's a country cottage near the heart of Dublin city.
I'd highly recommend this gorgeous house.
Known them forever, travelled with them many many times. I would trust Paddy & Lorna with anything, so I'd certainly trust them to deliver on their description (pics don't lie) of their cosy cottage and lovely cooking. They are always great hosts. The only possible criticism I have of their house is that Lorna organises their books by colour (that's just weird).
Lorna and Paddy have been good friends for the 15 years (and counting) of their relationship...! Paddy is a bit of a workaholic so you might not see him much, which is a pity because he really isnt that bad a fellow at all...!!! Lorna's a wonderful character, a great baker, tons of fun and will be full of wonderful information to help you get the most of your stay.
They have a seriously amazing house and an unbelievable dvd collection and im sure you will love it... on the rare occasion of an irish sunny day they also have been known to host a kick-ass bbq !!
