Aileen was friendly, quiet, clear in her communications, and mature. However, there were a few ways in which hosting her was a little harder than the average guest.
Aileen booked the cottage with the plan to have others join her and share the cost. But several weeks before she was due to arrive, she informed me that no one else had joined, and asked for a reduction in the rate. I gave her $10 off per night and off the cleaning fee also. Of course, if I hadn't, she might have canceled, and then I might not have gotten another booking. Aileen also asked if she could leave her luggage before check-in time, to which I agreed. But when she arrived, she asked for time to lie down in the cottage, which she did for an hour.
Aileen contacted me frequently by text for requests that seemed outside the realm of the average host: for example she asked me if I could provide alcohol and cotton swabs so she could do acupuncture.
Aileen is certainly a good guest, just perhaps a little more demanding than some. And perhaps I am a busier host than some, with a busy schedule and kids to care for, so these details may be more noticeable to me than they would to others.
Surprised at this review, would have appreciated parts of it in a private message. I truly want to take good care of any hosts property and was trying to be conscientious.
Aileen and her guest were fine guests. We would live to have them back!
Aileen needed a place for a group to stay during a series of classes nearby on our block, and rented our house for 5 people over New Years. She was very easy to communicate with, and kept me up-to-date on things she needed during her stay. Her initial inquiry came in the Fall, and even though she could not book right away, she kept her word with our verbal agreement and followed through on renting the house. She and her crew left the house clean and in good shape. We'll look forward to hosting them next time the class comes around.
