I'm a musician and teacher living in Brooklyn, NY. I've been there for the past 6 years, and I've loved NYC from day 1. Most of my traveling is relegated to visiting friends and family, but I spring for the occasional vacay to X marks the spot.
In trying to make a name for myself as a musician (a composer of anything from funk music, to avant garde esoterica, to a good ol' Christmas song), I keep many other hustles going to make a living. I make some money from playing commercial music in a wedding band or cocktail piano and much less from playing my own music. I also teach a number of different things. I've been running my own math tutoring and piano lesson service since 2008. I tutor math - from arithmetic through calculus - in my own unique, creative, and (what I hope to be) engaging way. I teach all manner of piano and keyboard skills, music theory and improvisation. I also teach a computer class to 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders at a "gifted and talented" public school in NYC.
I feel like I just wrote a resume. I'm not sure what I was supposed to write here... I hate asking people "what they do" and think it's a trite conversation piece. That said, I don't know how else to give a complete stranger the sense that I'm a reasonably safe, considerate, and responsible human being.
