I'd like to meet people from different cultures. I travelled mostly in South America and Africa.
Florent's apartment is really nice. It is EXACTLY as in the pictures. When we arrived (31/12/12), there was a very comfortable bed with nice smelling sheets and fresh towels. There is also a nice living room with plenty of space to either enjoy your meal or have some wine.
The biggest disadvantage of the flat is bathroom. If you are tall, you will probably be hitting the opposite wall while sitting on the toilet. Eventhough, we didn't experience any problems with water - always there and always hot. The kitchen is very narrow, but it is well-equipped - you will find there all the pots, pans, plates and glasses you need to prepare a full meal.
The neighbourhood is very lively and full of shops etc, although if I were to walk these streets alone (a woman), I would feel insecure.
All in all, we had a very nice stay and we would recommend this apartment to our friends!
After showing up in Paris, I had gone to my original Hotel that I booked in advance and found it to be a complete dump. I cancelled that reservation, and went to another Parisian hotel, which was also horrible. Then I turned to AirBNB to make a last minute appointment and found Florent's place.
Considering the short notice nature, everything went great. Because things were so last minute and I did not have mobile service in France, we had a bit of a challenge to get me the key. Once I had it, though, the place was very nice for a single traveller like myself.
The flat, about 5x as large as a more expensively priced hotel, is simply furnished but has everything one needs. If you need a safe, comfortable place to rest your head, relax and cook a small meal with very close Metro access, then this place is definitely for you.
The flat is very near to the metro, and a handful of nice restaurants. I don't eat at McDonalds, but if you are an American looking for something familiar, there is a McDonalds a stone's throw away. There are several nearby grocery stores, as well, if you wanted to save money by cooking your own meals.
Since Florent was out of town, his neighbor, Alexandrine, helped me with the key and a small question I had about starting the stove. The people in the building are very friendly, especially Alexandrine and the other tenants on Florent's floor. They were full of smiles for a non-french-speaking foreigner like me.
The only cons to renting with Florent was that the WiFi was a spotty public connection that needed some wrestling to get a connection at times. That said, I got it working 100% of the time.
Do note that this flat will give you a very authentic parisian experience. I did not need a slumber mask or ear plugs in Florent's apartment, but if you have not been to Paris before, you may want to have them just in case. You will need it in any hotel you use. Just a heads up for people who do not go to big cities often.
Nice and clean appartement with all what a tired traveller needs not far away from Métro.
I had the pleasure to have Florent stay in my apartment. He's a wonderful person and a great guest to host.I would love to have him stay again on his next visit to Antwerp. Highly recommended!
