Staying in Ellen's apartment was a positive experience. Ellen was an extremely kind and helpful host and the apartment is located in a great neighborhood. It is also a great deal considering how expensive Copenhagen is and how desirable the location is. Since it is so cheap though, the apartment is quite small so you end up getting what you pay for. Despite the size, the apartment has all of the basic necessities (2 bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom). The only problem when we moved in was the lack of storage - something that is okay for a weekend visitor but a little difficult since we were living there for four months. We had to set up shelves of our own but once we did that there was enough space to store clothing. All in all I would recommend staying here because of the great neighborhood and Ellen's kindness and willingness to help.
Ellen and Jan were both very gracious and friendly hosts. Communication was easy. The apartment is in one of the best parts of Norrebro with groceries, shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. It is an attic apartment so there are six floors to walk up daily. For a short rental, the place is okay with the bare necessities for cooking (Ellen and Jan supplemented from their kitchen some of the missing kitchen items). Laundry can be done but you need to go to Jan & Ellen to do it. It should also be noted that the apartment door itself cannot be locked from the outside but you can lock the common door used to get to both apartments (Ellen’s and the rental place), which can make you feel like you are staying at a relative’s place (can be good or bad).
The apartment is as shown though the bedroom is very tight for two and there is limited space to put your stuff. The blinds in the bedroom definitely need to be changed. We had to come up with a temporary fix for our six week stay as the whole room gets a lot of light by 4hrs30 am. It did get fairly noisy on a nightly basis as the inner courtyard reverberates from all the outer activity and several times we were kept up by inconsiderate neighbours (a fact that is beyond our hosts’ control obviously). In addition, Internet was very patchy and needed to be reset several times a day on average.
Like we said, the location is fantastic, the view towards the nearby church in the evening is beautiful and our hosts Ellen and Jan were super cool. There are just some details that might need to be ironed out to make the rental price more justifiable.
I had a splendid stay in this sweet little apartment. It was clean and comfortable. The light that comes in through the large windows, even on a cloudy day was plentiful and lovely. I found the neighborhood filled with good places to eat and there are many places to get fresh fruits and vegetables if you plan on using the kitchen.
Having Ellen and Jan in the building was great. They could answer questions and were always gracious.
If I ever have the opportunity to return to Copenhagen, I would gladly stay there again.
Myself and my friend stayed in this apartment for 3 months. Ellen and Jan were very friendly and approachable. Everything worked fine in the apartment. The wifi also worked fine. The apartment is very cosy and suited all our needs. The main living space is slightly different from the pictures shown. It is actually much nicer as they have new red chairs, table cloth, pictures etc. The tv is not on the wall as shown in the picture, it is on a stand next to the fridge which is better.
Ellen also bought two new bikes for us during our time there which was fantastic as Copenhagen is impossible to get around without a bike. We payed Ellen 1000 DKK for the bikes which she returned to us at the end of our stay when we returned the bikes.
The location is also ideal as it is not suited in the main city centre so you don't have to worry about noise. The main city was a 5 minute cycle away so very close when cycling. The apartment is literally around the corner from Norrebros main town which has many resturants, cafes, bars, shops, bike shops, fast food shops, pharmacy and supermarkets. It is also around the corner from small grocery stores, however these can be expensive so I would reccomend to go two minutes further down the road to the supermarkets called Netto and Fakta as these are cheaper.
The apartment is also 1km from Feddelparken which holds the national stadium, soccer pitches, walkways, pond and playground. It is a very relaxing place to go for a walk/run or even relax on the grass or benches in the large park. The stadium also hosts a number of events which you can check up (email hidden).
The only problem myself and my friend had with the apartment was the price of it as we were both students. Some of my friends were staying in a apartments three times the size of this one and were also in a great location and payed much less for their rent.
My wife and I had a great stay in Ellen's apartment for three weeks. We found the location in Nørrebro to be excellent, it was very close to great restaurants, markets, sights. While not near the city center (we loved this, in fact) we found plenty to do in the surrounding area and knew the neighborhood well before we arrived. Ellen and Jan were great hosts, the apartment was clean and well cared for with an excellent stereo, TV (though the WiFi was a little spotty at times) and great cooking facilitiy. We found it very easy to use it as our "home away from home", we did laundry several times in their apartment and never had any issues regarding timing. I would not hesitate to stay with them again.
j'ai passé une excellente semaine à Copenhague chez Ellen qui nous a reçu avec une grande gentillesse; merci!
We were a group of 6 people who stayed at the apartment for a varying amount of days. 2 sets of keys were offered and from what I heard everything was well organised apon arrival. The apartment was clean and is in pretty good shape. The couch is so comfortable that it was easy to fall asleep on it. In the kitchen you find everything you need for cooking and it was nice to find things like salt, sugar, oil, etc. The area around is great (nice bars, clubs, grocery stores) and the location is good (inner city in walking distance).
We were received very well by Ellen's husband. He was very nice, tried to help us with everything and gave us tips about places to go. While we were there we had a couple of problems and he was very effective to solve it and help us.
For us the downside was the location. We thought it would be closer to the city center, but it was a little far away to walk. There were two supermarkets around but we missed having restaurants in the neighborhood or nice stores. I think this is the immigrant's zone as well, since we only saw arabic people in the streets and kebab fast food places, but it was very safe, we cant complain. Also, Ellen told us that it would be in the first floor with just a couple of steps, but even though it was really 1st floor, there were 3 sets of stairs, which was a problem for us since my parents are older and I broke my foot and am using temporarily a wheelchair. So, even though the apartment is nice and we were very well treated we would not stay there again, because of location and the stairs, since these couple of things are key for us.
The apartment is in a great area, not far from the city centre. I walked several times to the centre, however for those who don´t want to go on foot there are good public transports nearby. The apartment has everything we need to spend a few days, although the bathroom could be improved with a clothes hook for the towels and a small shelf, for example.
Our stay in Copenhagen was great but marred a little by staying at this apartment. The building itself is nice & very well located... But we found the following:
- the apartment was too small for more than 2 people
- there was no storage (no hooks, shelves nothing) & not really enough room for suitcases.
- the washing facilities noted as available are in the hosts apartment & not easily accessible ie. only when they are home and we were not able to catch them.
- the beds were not made when we arrived, we made them.
- the apartment was not clean
- it's not a good apartment for small children although kids older than 5 or 6 yrs would be ok.
- the wifi was terrible. Slow & kept disconnecting.
- the level of service from the host (Jan) was pretty basic.
All in all we probably wouldn't recommend a stay here unless you really think you won't spend any time in the apartment.
Ellen and her family are very likeable. They had a quite
exhausting arrival because of traffic jam on the highway. But everything turned out just fine and i hope they had a good time.
Ellen and Jan are very nice people and able to fit in into a small apartment and the very Parisian neighborhood without any problems. They had their small boy with them who is very mature for his age and everyone was very respectful of the equipment.
The open door was a good proof that the residency is really very sure ;-) people live with open doors in summer but generally not in their absence.
I would be very glad to receive another visit of this family.
spontane und unkomplizierte und sehr freundliche Gäste. Die ersten überhaupt für mich mit Airbnb - sehr schöne Erfahrung. Dank auch meinem Bruder, der es möglich machte.
