Great place to stay. Safe, clean, tidy. Tasty food from Titi if you arrange it with them in the morning to eat in the evening. Totally recommended as an excellent base in PAP. Maxo v helpful. He will guide you through the complications of Tap Taps/Motos, and will come with you if he thinks you need assistance! Recommended without hesitation!
What a wonderful experience. My trip to Haiti would not nearly been as smooth without the help of Rita and her house staff. They guided us, fed us, and helped us with transportation - saving us lots of money by using tap-taps, instead of private taxis. Maxo the house attendent was super friendly, helpful, and made sure we had everything we needed. The accomodation was spacious and very clean, the food was delicious and plentiful.
I arrived at Rita's after a long work day in Cite Soleil. I was exhausted and slightly nervous because it was my first experience using AirBnB. However, once I got to the house Maxo (the caretaker of the house) made me feel at home. He helped us find safe Chicken BBQ to eat on the road and helped us with whatever we needed.
Every morning we woke up to a wonderful breakfast made by Maxo and others that help take care of the house. There were a few nights our translator decided to stay with us and Rita/Maxo were nice enough to just let us pay for him to stay with us even with such short notice.
The house itself is huge! There is a nice roof, conference room, kitchen, free clean water and many options for bedrooms. There are singles, doubles, and triples, etc. We decided to pick a room that all 4 of us could fit into so that we could all debrief after work days.
Overall, if you are staying in Port-au-Prince I highly suggest staying at Ritas. Everyone is very welcoming and the area of town, Delmas 33 was very safe. I didn't once feel unsafe walking around, even at night! We stayed at the Oloffson, Florita, and Ritas while in Haiti this trip and we have decided to hopefully use Rita's house again in the future instead of a regular hotel.
